On the heels of the very sold out Mars Volta-curated All Tomorrow's Parties winter event, the folks at ATP announced that Ween was forced to withdraw from their curatorial duties set for the spring due to "personal reasons."
While Ween will clearly be missed, the band's first choice to fill in, Dinosaur Jr., have agreed to take over.
The "United Sounds of ATP" festival is set to take place on the two consecutive weekends of May 12-14 and May 19-21, and will feature a different curator for each of the festival's six days. Mudhoney, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Devendra Banhart will curate the first weekend, while the second weekend will be headed by the Shins, Sleater-Kinney, and Dinosaur Jr.
While there are plenty of additions to be made, thus far Mudhoney have picked the following artists for the May 12 performances:
Black Mountain
Comets on Fire
the Drones
the Scientists
Country Teasers
David Dondero
For May 13, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have chosen:
TV on the Radio
Liars
Ex Models
Blood Brothers
Celebration
Imaginary Folk
the Tall Boys
Closing down the first weekend on May 14 will be Banhart's choices:
Espers
Vetiver
Jana Hunter
Bat for Lashes
Metallic Falcons
The second weekend is still coming together. In addition to the curator/artist set that each curator will play, The Shins, who are in charge of May 21, have only signed up the New Pornographers. Sleater-Kinney have tracked down the Gossip, as well as David Cross to serve as MC, for May 20.
Refunds or exchanges for the second weekend are available until January 5 for ticketholders who purchased tickets based on the appearance of Ween.
