(DENVER) Colorado-based environmental advocacy organization Rock the Earth has announced that it is the recipient of two substantial grants - from musician Jack Johnson and from the Rex Foundation. Johnson has asked the organization to utilize the grant in focusing upon protecting the Northwest Hawaiian Islands.

The Rex Foundation grant will be used in Rock the Earth's ongoing efforts to ensure the Colorado River Management Plan protects important wilderness through Grand Canyon National Park. Rock the Earth is organizing a coalition of wilderness groups in defending this stretch of river.

"We are honored to have been chosen as recipients from two incredible leaders in the music community, both of whom embody all that Rock the Earth stands for," stated Rock the Earth Executive Director Marc Ross. "The grants from Jack Johnson and the Rex Foundation represent the next step in our growth as we defend the planet one beat at a time."

In early December, Rock the Earth will announce its next steps in challenging the Colorado River Management Plan.
