It has been quite a busy year for New Monsoon with a slot on the Big Summer Classic Tour and a huge cross-country tour this fall in support of their newest CD release The Sound. The tour had stops in California, Colorado, the Midwest, East Coast, The South, and wrapped up on Halloween weekend with a big run of shows in Texas. One of the biggest highlights of the tour was a guest-filled Charlotte late night show with Bill Nershi, Michael Kang, Mike Travis and Jason Hahn from String Cheese Incident and all the members of Hot Buttered Rum String Band joining in the festivities. At Magnolia Festival Tim Carbone from Railroad Earth sat in with the band on several tunes and in Houston during the band's "Electric Experience" Halloween show they covered a variety of Jimmy Hendrix covers such as "Hey Joe" and "Voodoo Chile."
On Tuesday the November tour begins and the band will trek up to the Pacific Northwest highlighted by a pair of shows in Hood River, OR with the super funky Scott Law Band opening. The band will then travel up to British Columbia, followed by stops in Idaho and Montana and then return back to California. On November 27 the band will be playing with Spearhead at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The band will be enjoying some time off for most of December before wrapping up the New Year in Clearwater, FL with a pair of shows at Java Junction. The band will then start 2006 by setting sail on JamCruise 4. Stay tuned for 2006 tour dates and news.
