Austin City Limits Music Festival Announces 2006 Dates
Three-Day Festival to Be Held September 15-17, 2006

Dave Schools (WSP) :: ACL 2005 :: By Tony Stack
The fifth annual Austin City Limits Music Festival will rock Zilker Park on Sept. 15–17, 2006. Each year, the Festival features more than 130 musical performances across multiple stages, giving fans a mix of rock, roots, gospel, bluegrass, funk and hip-hop, among other genres. Once again, Austin's beloved, 45-acre urban park will host the musical experience along with a vibrant art market, exceptional local food vendors and much more.

Festival organizers received an outpouring of positive responses from fans this year regarding measures taken to improve the overall Festival experience - including reduced daily capacity by 10,000, an additional portal for entering and exiting the grounds, and improved transportation services.

"We rely heavily on fan feedback to help us make each year's festival better and better," said Charlie Jones, executive producer and principal at Capital Sports & Entertainment, which organizes the Festival (and co-produces the Austin City Limits television series with KLRU-TV). "As always, we'll use the coming months to figure out how we can improve the fans' experience including providing as much protection as possible from any weather-related conditions."

The ACL Festival has been held in September since its 2002 debut. The specific date is determined largely by band touring schedules (the summer festival season is from May to August) and working closely with the City of Austin and the Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau to determine other events occurring in the city during that time.

"I'm extremely proud of the lineup we put together for 2005," said Charles Attal of Charles Attal Presents, talent buyer and co-producer of the ACL Festival. "We're already talking to bands for our fifth anniversary next year, and we can't wait to tell the fans what we have in store for them."
