Grace
Potter and the Nocturnals triumphantly return home to their native state this
October for a two week tour of classic Vermont theatres, ballrooms, auditoriums,
and churches. The aptly named "Ben & Jerry's Bringing It All Back Home Tour" follows
a highly successful national summer tour in support of their latest album, Nothing
But the Water.
Seven venues were hand-selected by the band to celebrate their return to Vermont.
The tour inaugurates with a two-night stand in Burlington and finishes, almost
literally, at the bands front door in Waitsfield. The tour takes them
from rowdy ballroom to intimate recital hall, from performing arts center to
a 150 year old converted church, from one corner of the state to the other.
We love Vermont and we love the support its communities have given us.
We wouldnt be here today without that. We wanted to design a tour that
covered the state geographically, but more importantly, made stops in some of
our favorite towns. Were looking forward to this series of hometown shows,
each of which will be uniquely different and host some fun surprises, before
we head back out on the road again, says 21 year old Potter, whose vocal
ability already draws an impressive list of dynamic comparisons to legends such
as Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, and Norah Jones.
Joining Potter, who sits comfortably behind a Hammond B3, Rhodes, and other
keys as well as guitar, are bandmates Scott Tournet (guitar/slide guitar),
Matthew Burr (drums/percussion), and Bryan Dondero (upright/electric
bass). The band's new album Nothing But The Water builds on 2004's powerful
debut Original Soul.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have quickly become one of the hottest bands
in the country. Having toured non-stop all summer, theyve garnered critical
acclaim as they criss-crossed the nation performing with such varied acts as
Dave Matthews Band, Taj Mahal, Mavis Staples, Robert Cray, North Mississippi
Allstars, Widespread Panic, Ivan Neville, John Butler Trio, Earth Wind and Fire,
and Chicago.
