TREY'S CURRENT LINE-UP
After spending the latter part of 2004 writing new material following Phish's farewell tour, Trey recorded some demos and began auditioning musicians at The Barn for his new project. After months of writing and recording, a couple of old friends and several new collaborators made the cut and formed Trey's latest project. Trey's current band consists of Tony Hall (bass-New Orleans, LA), Les Hall (keys, guitar, synths - Cola, SC), Skeeto Valdez (drums - Detroit, MI), Ray Paczkowski (keys - Burlington, VT), Jennifer Hartswick (vocals - Burlington, VT) and Christina Durfee (vocals - Burlington, VT).

The band spent the winter recording at The Barn in Vermont, as well as studios in Nashville and Atlanta. Following a solid month of live rehearsals at The Barn, the band made their public debut on April 1, 2005 at The Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT performing a sold-out benefit concert for the Vermont Land Trust. They played a handful of new material as well as new takes on older material from Trey's previous bands, including Phish, as well as an energetic cover of "I Am The Walrus." Like much of Trey's work, this group's sound is hard to define in conventional terms but is rooted in high-energy rock and roll. Trey's trademark compositions interweave well-crafted songs with his strong command of improvisation and exploration creating a result that's both cerebral and danceable.

MARTIN DEBUTS SIGNATURE TREY ANASTASIO ACOUSTIC GUITAR
JULY 22.05C.F. Martin & Co. has teamed up with Trey to create a special acoustic guitar. The DC Trey Anastasio Signature Edition blends form and function in a style as original as Trey himself. A Dreadnought body with a smoothly curved Venetian cutaway allows for easy access to the upper frets. Solid tonewoods yield an exceptionally clear, full tone, enhanced with a top of rare Italian alpine spruce, East Indian rosewood sides and a three-piece back with "wings" of East Indian rosewood and a center wedge of beautifully flamed Hawaiian koa. A 1-11/16" (at the nut) low profile genuine mahogany neck provides playing comfort. Distinctive appointments include a flamed Hawaiian koa headplate with eye-catching headstock and fingerboard inlays. It's a practical guitar that looks and plays as good as it sounds, and it is offered in two configurations: either with Fishman's acclaimed onboard Ellipseā„¢ Blend System that delivers superb live and recorded sound, or for the more traditional player, without the onboard electronics package. For more information please visit the Martin website.

This is really cool. It would be cooler, though, if I had a spare $5450.00 lying around to buy it with...

This is from the man that when had the world stage said. "Drive on the right side of the road"(Or something). Now after playing at a benefit for the Vermont Land Trust he has put together, it is very ironic, a guitar made from Italian, and East Indian wood. Good guitarist but not much else.

I have read the various boards regardng Trey and his new directions and I have to say everyone sounds like a bunch of spoiled brats. Let the man do what he wants and let his music take him where it will. My god, have you all forgot how much he lifted everyone up with his music??? All I hear now is bitch bitch bitch. Give it a break and be appreciative of what he has already given us!!!!

Jerbhamm. You weren't at Bonnaroo. Nice name. It's just that the idea was to do something new. Not recycle phish tunes in a half-fanny fashion. Although I read he stepped it up at KLF. Read. Not heard. No hearing.

djdaddyp, no i wasn't at Bonnaroo, but I don't think I have to see everyone of his shows to put forth an opinion. This debate sounds like so much going on in out society today....If you don't like Trey's new directions......don't listen!!!! Its that simple.

I just wish Trey would do something that is commensurate with his ability and the heritage he created. Let me say first and foremost that I'm glad Phish retired before things got worse (and I love Phish), but the last two tours and albums weren't has innovative or risk-taking as any other the other material. It was getting watered down and they said that themselves. The 2003(or whas it 2002?)Trey tour was PHENOMENAL. I caught two shows and both smoked any Phish show I saw in the last four years. Then I saw him in Atlanta on this tour. It was the most straightforward, non-energetic, non-innovative, bland NON-SHOW I have ever seen him associated with. There are over 20 local bands in my area that you would get more out of. The one high-point of his new ensemble is Les Hall, who can REALLY play. To echo the remarks of a lot of other people, BRING BACK THE HORNS. Bring back Jennifer Hartsick. Bring back Dave Grippo. And don't OPEN FOR THE STONES.
