SK&F: AN IMPROVISATIONAL MUSICAL ODYSSEY

Steve Kimock & Reed Mathis
Steve Kimock and Friends are returning to the central plains for a highly anticipated tour including dates in Tulsa, Fayetteville and Dallas – an event promoters are calling, "An improvisational infused musical odyssey."

For more than 25 years, guitarist Steve Kimock has astounded audiences with his soul-stirring sound, extraordinary creativity, and unparalleled mastery of his instruments. A relentless innovator, Kimock's passion for defying musical boundaries has earned the respect of musicians and fans alike, and he is widely considered one of the music world's most talented improvisational guitarists.

The all-star cast of Steve Kimock and Friends includes Robert Walter (Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walter's 20th Congress), Reed Mathis (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) and 13-time Grammy award winner Rodney Holmes (Santana, Brecker Bros) – an unlikely blend of virtuosi musicians whose genre includes a combination of soul-stirring rock, blues, gospel, funk and jazz.

Reviews raved about the band's ability to surmount a broad musical vocabulary in the first setting, a performance with only days of preparation, and a band who had never performed together before. Their presentation-featured scenarios of roaring exploratory highs leading into dance ready gospel, acid jazz and the sweet sonic whispers, recognized as Kimock's trademark.

While the repertoire is focused primarily on Kimock-Holmes standards, Walter approached Kimock's melodies, many of which have been in creation for over 15 years, with a fresh and completely new voice, extending the live creation process ten-fold.

A musical legacy over ten years in the making, SK&F is at an all time peak. The band is known for an ever-evolving cast of all-star musicians including players such as Sonny Landreth, Martin Fierro, Mark Karan, Pete Sears, Bobby Vega, Earl Kate and Chip Roland. This most recent line up is back together for the second time and is not to be missed in 2005.
