Phish :: Coventry :: By Dave Vann |
The all Phish on-line auction organized by John Langenstein (former Director of Security for Phish) and David Shulman (Executive Director of the Mimi Fishman Foundation) ended December 28. The auction raised over $7,100 for the Station Family Fund (SFF) and included items such as the Phish road wardrobe case, a signed Coventry unused ticket, Trey and Mike guitar strings, among many other Phish memorabilia pieces.
The SFF is an all-volunteer organization, founded to offer assistance and relief to people directly affected by the fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island. 100 people perished, close to 200 severely injured, and more than 60 children lost one or both parents in the horrific fire on Feb 20, 2003.
Combined with the previous three auctions Langenstein/Shulman organized for the SFF, the grand total they raised in 2004 surpassed $51,000. What makes the auctions unique is the fact that 100% of the funds raised were given to the SFF. This was possible because all services were donated, as the Mimi Fishman Foundation hosted and marketed the auction, the Grateful Web powered the auction site, and all auction items were secured by Langenstein through donations basically by Phish and its management staff. At this time Langenstein/Shulman are already in the early stages of organizing another auction to take place in early 2005. Information can be found at www.mimifishman.org when available.
