Delta Nove, a six-piece, progressive world funk rock ensemble from Long Beach, California has been committed to the evolution of music since its inception. Born from a blend of funk, samba, Afro-beat, and rock, Delta Nove's distinct sound is carving a unique place among music fans of all types.
The band first began to turn heads after their strong performances at both the High Sierra and Baja Bash Music Festivals this summer. With the addition of drummer Echo Marufo (founding member of Ozomatli), Delta Nove has reached new musical levels much to the delight of the band's fans and new audiences.
Delta Nove's first visit to the East was in late spring of this year. Shows in Oklahoma, Tennessee and North Carolina highlighted the tour. Originally the band had not planned to visit the East again until the spring of 2005. However after much support of the new friends and fans the band met on the first trip, they decided to head East one more time before the end of the year.
As Rob Covacevich (Sax) explains, "Originally we were only going to head East once this year, but all of the great friends and fans we met in the spring were just not going to let that happen and we could not pass up the opportunity to party with everyone again."
Delta Nove begins the five week, 25 plus show East Coast tour on Thursday, October 21st in Austin, Texas before they embark on a hefty romp across the country ending at the Plumtree Lounge in Oklahoma City, OK on November 22.
