BROTHERS PAST NEW EP AND TOUR

PHILADELPHIA: Brothers Past announces their next studio release, a five-song EP entitled statEPolice, available this fall.

"The EP is a bridge to the next album," keyboardist Tom McKee says. "The past year has been all about song craft for us, and these are songs in the truest sense of the word. Instead of jamming in the studio, we experimented with different ways to open up the soundscape of the songs. We found new ways to dress them up sonically to express a story and a mood. Even if you've heard them live, you've never heard them like this."

The Getaway T.O.R.R., a five-week national tour, will accompany the EP release, kicking off with a free show at the Barrell House in Cincinnati, OH on Wednesday, September 8. The tour includes stops in St. Louis, Madison, and Chicago before continuing west through Colorado, where the band will headline the prestigious Fox Theatre. Two weeks of shows spanning the entire state of California follow, including a stop at the Knitting Factory West in Hollywood, a two-night run in Humboldt County, and a performance at the Google campus in Mountain View. The band will then head to Texas for a week that will include shows in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. The tour wraps up Saturday, October 9 at The Great Unknown Festival in Arkansas.

Brothers Past has been busy in 2004, alternating between an active touring schedule of more than 70 shows to date and studio sessions for the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2002 full-length release A Wonderful Day. The Philadelphia Enquirer called A Wonderful Day "excellent and engrossing." The Village Voice showered praise on one track specifically, saying, "'Monsters Come Out At Night' … is the track of the year thus far... it both provides the pivot point for a refreshingly ambitious studio effort and accurately reflects the group's intense onstage spirit."

Quickly becoming one of the most talked about independent acts in the nation for their innovative and emotive mix of progressive rock, electronica, and inspired vocals, Brothers Past cite Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Cure, Amon Tobin, and DJ Shadow as influences. The band has been red-hot since selling out their 2003 New Year's Eve show in Philadelphia and have toured throughout the U.S. in 2004, including extended runs in the South, Mid-West and Colorado. Other recent highlights included a full house at The Trocadero in Philadelphia and two sold out shows in New York City, one at The Knitting Factory's Main Space.

The EP statEPolice is available now at the band's web site and will be in select stores this fall. A full-length album is expected in early 2005, supported by an extensive national spring tour.
