Today the Austin City Limits Music Festival announced the eagerly anticipated schedule for the 2004 Festival, including an unprecedented lineup of artists that fans are hard pressed to find playing together anywhere else. More than 130 performances ranging from gospel to rock, and indie to reggae make the Austin City Limits Music Festival, held September 17-19 in Austin’s beautiful Zilker Park, one of the top music destinations this Fall.
More than 200,000 music fans are expected to attend the 3-day Festival. In addition to music, attendees can feast on local cuisine at the Taste of Austin Food Court; shop at the SoCo art market featuring local artisans; and kick back with the kids at Austin Kiddie Limits, a children’s area that features its own extensive schedule of events and performers. Fans can also explore the history behind Austin City Limits – the long running PBS music series that serves as the inspiration for the Festival – in the Austin City Limits Experience tent.
With more than 40 bands per day, the challenge for music fans will be choosing which ones to watch. Friday will feature Sheryl Crow, Los Lonely Boys, Ryan Adams, Rosanne Cash, The Killers, and Particle. Saturday highlights will be shows by The Pixies, Trey Anastasio, Dashboard Confessional, Modest Mouse, and The Holmes Brothers. The Festival will be capped off on Sunday with performances by Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Jack Johnson, The Roots, Drive-By Truckers and Mindy Smith. For a complete schedule of all bands, please visit www.aclfestival.com.
“The fans are showing such enthusiasm for the Festival, and we are on track to set new attendance records,” said Charlie Jones, producer and principal at Capital Sports & Entertainment.
A limited number of three-day passes for $75 (plus service and processing fees) remain and can be purchased online at www.aclfestival.com. Music fans are urged to act quickly as three-day passes will increase to $80 (plus service and processing fees) on Aug. 14th 12:01 a.m. CDT. Kids 10 and under will be admitted for free if accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
