By Matt Earhart |
This year's lineup features the
Soundtest debuts of Sound Tribe Sector 9 (playing 2 nights),
The Codetalkers Featuring Col. Bruce Hampton,
Tea Leaf Green, and
Signal Path. Rounding out the main-stage
lineup, and making their triumphant returns to Indian Springs, are
MamaSutra and
Olospo.
3-day Festival passes are now
on sale at a special, early bird price of $50. Single-day tickets, and passes
for camping and/or parking are also available. Tickets can be purchased
exclusively thru tickets.lvjbs.org.
The popularity of the Area 51
Soundtest has grown over the first three years of its existence. Previous
attendees have been treated to music from Dark Star Orchestra, Jacob Fred Jazz
Odyssey, David Nelson Band, Ominous Seapods, Mood Food, Motion For Alliance,
David Gans, and each festival has featured late-night sets from
powerhouse Particle. Last year's festival was headlined by
jamband favorite, moe., and featured two sets by the band each night (moe.'s
current "Mayor" is the ubiquitous Flo, a large yellow cow bearing the band's
logo, which was given to moe. as a gift by the LVJBS during the festival
weekend).
Further information can be found at the
official festival website:

About Las Vegas Jamband
Society (www.lvjbs.org):
The Las Vegas Jam Band
Society (LVJBS) exists to help create a more supportive music community in
southern Nevada for the musicians of the jam band genre. The goal is to educate
ourselves and the community through grass roots promotions and concert events.
Through an expanded
understanding and exposure to improvisational music we can provide a home for
jam bands in Southern Nevada. We plan to make Southern Nevada a national
destination for jam band festivals and by doing so will provide our community
with quality music and an enhancement of its cultural value. We believe in
transcendence through music and together we can introduce more people to the
magic of this music and the musicians who play it.
The Las Vegas Jamband Society,
an association of improvisational music enthusiasts, is the Las Vegas chapter of
the Jamband Society of America, Inc. The Jamband Society of America, Inc. is a
not for profit corporation created to promote live, improvisational music in Las
Vegas, southern Nevada, and across the country. Formal approval by the IRS of
Section 501(c) (3) charitable organization status was granted in October 2003.
