Steve Molitz of Particle by Earhart
Particle's star keeps rising as they continue to introduce their trademark "funktronic" brand of music to the masses. Their unique blend of dance, electronic, and jam-rock draws from a diverse musical and artistic palette to create new sounds and positive energy. The band has an amazingly strong fan base, affectionately known as Particle People, which the band are mindful to fully entertain through the staging of large themed events such as their annual "Krewe of Particle People Party" in New Orleans, where Krispy Kreme donuts are served at dawn. Particle also transformed New York's Irving Plaza into a near-perfect replication of Studio 54 complete with go-go dancers, performing disco hits all night to a sold-out audience of zoot suit-wearing fans.

Particle is Eric Gould on bass, Charlie Hitchcock on guitar, Steve Molitz on keyboards, and Darren Pujalet on drums and note influences ranging from Spiritualized and U2 to Kruder & Dorfmeister and Talking Heads. They are coming into their own as major players in the festival world with performances at Austin City Limits Music Festival, Bonnaroo, a feature on CNN, a crown for Best New Band from Relix magazine, and a Jammy nomination.

Openers Ming + FS are no strangers to the spotlight either. The duo have their own trademark sound in their turntablist junkyard hip-hop. With drum and bass in hand along with a bevy of production equipment, Ming + FS have risen from the streets of New York City to release a number of notable albums, including 2002's Subway Series, produce tracks for the likes of Omzone, Terra Deva, DJ Spooky, Jungle Sky, and Ubiquity Recordings, and collaboration and remixes with Puff Daddy, Aphrodite, Craig David, Glenn Lewis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Suzanne Vega. Can they bring the party? Oh yeah! The duo have shared the stage with the likes of Run DMC, Dalek, Mark Farina, Paul Oakenfold, The Roots, Mix Master Mike, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Sting, and Moby. Ming + FS's new album, Back To One will be released this August on Spun Records/Madhattan Studios.

Hudson River Rocks is an open air concert series showcased against the river's shores under New York skies on historic Pier 54 located at 13th Street and the West Side Highway in New York City. Now in its fourth year, River Rocks has featured such luminary acts as the White Stripes, Clinic, the Headhunters, Rooney, and Pretty Girls Make Graves. All performances are free and open to the public. The July 22 concert will run from approximately from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., beginning with opening act Ming + FS. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The final concert of the 2004 series takes place August 19 with Ambulance Ltd and headliners Guided By Voices. Mark your calendars now!
