It's a strange and powerful thing this Stockholm Syndrome. And I'm not even speaking about the five world-class musicians who make up the band; we'll get to that in a minute. Perhaps before we dive into this monster of a band, it would serve us well to consider the 1973 five-day bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden that gave birth to the psychological condition known as, The Stockholm Syndrome. What it boils down to is an unexplainably sympathetic and compassionate connection with ones captors. The connection runs so deep that these hostages--who were clearly in harms way--have gone on to raise money and speak in defense of their gun-wielding assailants. This condition has been seen in several hostage situations over the years and continues to baffle the psychiatric world.

Perhaps as powerful as the 1973 bank robbing madness and psychological anomaly that followed is the band, Stockholm Syndrome. While the medical condition was born in Europe, so was the musical outfit. In 2002 long time friends Jerry Joseph and Dave Schools (of Widespread Panic fame) decided it was high time to hit Europe and see what happens... turns out the Stockholm Syndrome is what happens when these two amazing musicians join forces. Seeing the potential, Jerry and Dave rounded up a few more mighty men and now we have a full-fledged band ready to take Europe, and The States by storm. With black magic guitar/mandolin/banjitar master Eric McFadden (Parliament Funkadelic, Liar, Alien Lovestock, IZM, Eric McFadden Experience), Wally Ingram (David Lindley, Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow, Blues Traveler, Tracy Chapman, Art Garfunkel, Pat MacDonald) on drums, and German composer, arranger, producer and classically trained pianist, Danny Dziuk on keys and synth we find a true super-group ready to take over any situation that presents itself.

at Compass Point Studios, Bahamas
While anticipation is high and expectations soaring, few know what to expect from the Stockholm Syndrome. What we do know is that the band has recorded Holy Happy Hour at the legendary Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas. Set to hit the street on June 29th off Terminus Records, the buzz is audible and those involved are already singing the praises of what's to come. Produced by Dave Schools and mixed by John Keane, the world awaits the first notes from what is shaping up to be one hell of a band. And with legendary road warriors Widespread Panic on their first break in close to 20 years, a legion of faithful Panic fans are turning to the Stockholm Syndrome to heal what ails their rock-heavy hearts.

Although the good ole U. S. of A. has to wait until the end of May for their first taste of the Syndrome, the band will play their first show ever on May 7th in Berlin, Germany. The Stockholm Syndrome will then cover Europe from Germany to Amsterdam, Belgium to Switzerland, Spain to France, a few more shots at Germany and over to London before touching down in New York City on May 27th. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a group of powerful madmen in small venues playing their first electrified notes as a band. Tickets for Europe are On Sale Saturday March 20th at 9:00 a.m. EST. With pockets of fans holding their breath on both sides of the Atlantic, tickets are expected to go quickly, and will sell out. Tickets for the only four American Dates (New York, South Carolina, North Carolina) are also On Sale Saturday March 20th at 9:00 a.m. EST.

The doors are bolted, the vault sealed and all faces against the ground. You can feel the cold steel against the back of your neck and you begin to sweat as your eyes grow black. There's a new band on the loose, Brace Yourself for the Stockholm Syndrome.
