Wasserman & Gould by Earl Gardner |
Particle is currently enjoying some down time after a highly successful winter tour through the South. The band toured with bassist Rob Wasserman, who opened every show on solo bass and was joined by members of Particle for free-form jamming. Eric Gould commented on the sit-ins in his Tour Journal on the Particle web site: "Rob's opening sets were very special as well. This guy can really fill out a lot of sound as a one-man show. He got pretty out there in a great way."
Particle is thrilled about their up and coming spring tour and Launchpad album release on March 23. On Wednesday March 17 they play a showcase at the SXSW Conference at club Rock Star then return back to California for two big CD release parties the following weekend. On Friday March 19 they play The Independent in San Francisco and then head south for a hometown party at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday. Rob Wasserman will once again be opening both shows on solo bass. The tour continues to Denver for two nights at Cervante's Masterpiece with Fareed Haque Group opening both evenings.
 Buckethead by Terry Wickham |
The big news of the tour is that the infamous Buckethead will be joining the band for a portion of the tour, opening shows with solo performances on all dates from March 31 to April 15, including shows in Madison, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, and more. This will be his first appearance in many of these cities since his days with Guns n' Roses. Buckethead has played and recorded with Bill Laswell, Les Claypool, Bootsy Collins, Primus, and Guns n' Roses, among many others. This tour will feature a trip into the world of Bucketheadland that will surely blow quite a few minds. Particle will perform two sets each night during the tour and fans can expect many surprises.
The band was recently featured in the New York Times Business section and is poised for the release of their debut album Launchpad. You can Enter to Win a Particle iPod! on JamBase or by pre-ordering the album. All tour dates and other information can be found at ParticlePeople.com.
