a440 will announce their new name on March 6 at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY. They will be playing two sets starting at 9 p.m. As always a dance party will be in session when a440 hits the stage to reveal their new moniker.
The announcement of the name change is causing quite a stir among the fans. A buzz has been spreading throughout music-related message boards and the fans are wildly trying to figure out what their favorite band will call themselves.

The name change will be followed up with a debut studio album to be released in April. This will mark the first recording with new members, new sound, and new name.
The lineup change signals a change in the focus of the band. With no specific lead singer it moves the emphasis of the band from vocals to instrumental jams and more "livetronica" sound. The band's sound is more cohesive now as well. The music has moved into the forefront and is no longer just a backdrop for the vocals.
This change in musical emphasis sparked the desire for a new name to better represent the current members and their new sound. "After a lot of consideration, we've decided that we're just not a440 anymore. a440 was a different group of guys producing a different sound. We're something else and a name change to reflect that is called for," says guitarist Rob Salzer.
