STRANGERS HELPING STRANGERS FOOD DRIVE

Strangers Helping Strangers would like to announce that they will be collecting non-perishable foods and other items at the January 17th, 2004 show at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury, CT. This show will feature performances by Scarecrow Collection and Zen Tricksters. SHS will be collecting donations for the Connecticut Food Bank.

Strangers Helping Strangers' origin dates back to 1997 when Strangefolk invited Vermont's Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf to collect donations at their Independence Day and Halloween concerts, both held in the Green Mountain State. Tina Campbell and Kat Harless, two traveling fans of the band, saw an opportunity to not only help needy individuals in the New England cities Strangefolk visits, but to bolster the reputation and distinction of the growing community of fans and friends surrounding the band each year. Following a trial-run food drive at Strangefolk's 4th Annual Garden of Eden Festival over Labor Day weekend in 1998, Strangers Helping Strangers held its first official event as an organization during a concert at the State Theatre in Portland, ME on February 6, 1999. The event was a great success, and since that date, Strangers Helping Strangers has collected over 10,000 items at Strangefolk concerts throughout the northeast region.

SHS will be giving thank you gifts for the largest donations, which will include tickets to upcoming shows by the bands, and at the venue, tickets to upcoming shows with other bands and/or at other venues, live and studio CDs by these and other bands, merchandise, signed posters, stickers, etc... Anyone who donates will be entered into a drawing for prizes which will include tickets to upcoming shows by the bands, and at the venue, tickets to upcoming shows with other bands and/or at other venues, live and studio CDs by these and other bands, merchandise, signed posters, stickers, etc... Anyone who brings 25+ items will receive their choice of the SCC or Zen Tricksters set in the mail. Anyone who brings 35+ items will receive BOTH the SCC AND Zen Tricksters sets in the mail.
