New Monsoon would like to officially announce the departure of their bass player/vocalist since 1998, Heath Carlisle. New Monsoon just completed an amazing year: 175 U.S. shows, with much critical acclaim and some major festival appearances. All this occurred within their first year of full-time U.S. touring, which began in January 2003. Other major accomplishments during Heath’s time include the completion of two full-length CDs, Hydrophonic (2000) and Downstream (2002). The band would like to acknowledge Carlisle’s important contributions to the music and to the fans since the beginning. Heath left the band to pursue individual musical and creative projects. The band is looking forward to this next chapter in their history, and the limitless possibilities on the horizon.
Since Dec 26th, New Monsoon has performed with some very special guests on bass guitar. In San Francisco, Bryan Horne of Hot Buttered Rum String Band played an excellent set on five-string electric bass at the Avalon Ballroom Steve Kimock opener. On Dec 30 and 31, the incomparable Arne Livingston, (Living Daylights, Steve Kimock Band) joined the band for an epic New Year’s blowout at Cervante's Masterpiece in Denver, rocking the festive crowd til five a.m. New Monsoon will continue to work with special guests, including Brian Burgess from Tallahassee, FL, for their upcoming shows on JamCruise 2, while they seek a permanent replacement.
New Monsoon is currently seeking a permanent singer/bassist who is dedicated to music and would thrive as a creative force in an emerging touring band. Tour dates and band information can be obtained at newmonsoon.com.
Please contact the band to find out exactly what they are looking for in a singer/bassist. New Monsoon can be reached via email at band@newmonsoon.com. Extremely serious inquiries only, please.
Most importantly, the band extends heartfelt appreciation to its loyal fans and street team for their continued support.
