After a seven-week hiatus, San Francisco's new monsoon hits the road yet again for their Fall tour, a six-week jaunt of the East and West coasts. Starting on Halloween in Houston at the Last Concert Café, the tour includes stops at the legendary Tipitina's Uptown in New Orleans to close Voodoo Festival, Tobacco Road in NYC, as well as several other great gigs across the East Coast and back out to California, where the tour will end in Santa Cruz on December 13 at Moe's Alley.

new monsoon has spent most of the last year wowing crowds all across the country, bringing their funky mix of world-rock to concert goers everywhere. Whether it be jamming with Fareed Haque at HSMF, P-Nut Daniels at JazzFest, Michael Travis at the Telluride Blue Grass Festival, or opening for the String Cheese Incident and Sound Tribe Sector 9 at Red Rocks, new monsoon is emerging from the scene as a band that is a 'must see.'

The band played its first show outside of California only this past January but has seen its fanbase grow rapidly. The band's street team network spans coast to coast, growing by the minute. During its hiatus, new monsoon focused on new songs and new additions to their set, which are sure to rock. new monsoon has an uncanny ability to mesh world influences with western styles, all the while making it rock, and the new material is no different. The band looks forward to 'breaking in' the songs on the road before going into the studio, with a new release most likely coming next summer.

new monsoon is aptly named for their fluid blending of Latin, Indian, and rock rhythms with banjo, dobro, guitars, keyboards and didgerido. Their unique blend of funky rocking global grooves, and improvisational playing has garnered them comparisons to the Allman Brothers, Santana, and Dave Matthews, but their sound is all their own.

Their breadth of training allows them to use as many as thirteen different instruments in a single show so that every song is a musical odyssey of epic proportions. Their influences span the globe, and this is evident in the wide range of styles in which they play.

This description and biography cannot begin to describe the energy and virtuosity of new monsoon's live performances. Their live recordings have become popular among tapers and traders across the United States because of their eclectic sets, innovative songcraft, and high-energy performances. Jazz, reggae, bluegrass, and classic rock are expertly mixed with Latin and Indian rhythms to create new monsoon's signature sound. Do not miss out on the next great band from the Bay Area.
