Once again, Connecticut's own Psychedelic Breakfast is heading west this summer! (Any more time out west, and these boys will have to get new driver's licenses.) Relentless touring has helped this young, promising band hone its sound, a cornucopia that combines the best elements of the artists these four musicians most admire: the guitar work of Frank Zappa, the drums of John Bonham, the basslines of a love child spawned by Flea and Bootsy Collins, and the ever-flowing keyboards of early Grateful Dead.
Psychedelic Breakfast begins the trek in Nashville, TN where the band will host a co-bill with Harmonized Records' Lotus at the Exit/In, through Texas where they headline shows at The Vibe with good ol' friends Larry, and then it's off to sunny California for return appearances at Winston's in Ocean Beach. Psychedelic Breakfast will play two sets at the Alter Knit at the Knitting Factory in LA on July 2nd for what is sure to be a MONSTER night, and then the band is off to High Sierra, Baja Bash and beyond. Look for a Shasta co-bill with their buddies Tea Leaf Green, and a slew of other shows.
Now you didn't hear it here but, there are rumblings of an impromptu appearance on one or more of the Phish lots while the band is in Northern California. The last time fans saw that was at Oswego in 1998.
"We decided last year that we wanted spend almost as much time on the left coast as we do in the east. The idea is to surround the country and work our way in... something like that," says guitar guru Tim Palmieri.
The tour officially kicked off on May 31st for PB's first Connecticut appearance in the last four months, at the Webster Theatre with RAQ supporting.
More dates are being added, so keep checking PB's website for updates!
