For years now Green Genes has been making efforts to reach new regions with its Kentucky-fried blend of bluegrass, jazz, blues, funk, and rock. While responsibilities have kept these boys close to home, a new change will allow this exciting band to spread its roots across the country. However, this change comes at an enormous cost to the band.

Original member and lead guitarist, Don Rogers, will be leaving the band at the end of the month. With increasing desire from the band to tour more consistently, Don's dedication to his family makes it hard for him to keep up with an extensive touring schedule. Don's sound is synonymous with Green Genes and his lightening fast guitar riffs and blazing solos will be impossible to replace. While heads hang low in Lexington, fans are still confident that the band will continue to grow with the new line-up. Rehearsals have long been underway to get the new member to the Genome up to speed, and reports from practice have been overwhelmingly positive. The band has already signed with a national booking agent and is planning to play close to 100 shows in the next year, so keep your eyes and ears open because Green Genes is headed your way.

The farewell shows begin with a Special 4.20 show at the Fishtank in Lexington. This is an early show (7pm) since clubs have to close at 11pm on Sundays. Broken Grass will be opening. Don's final appearances with Green Genes will be on April 24th and 25th at the Fishtank so don't miss it. WE'LL MISS YOU DON!!!!!
