PARTICLE NEW ALBUM AND SPRING TOUR

  • Send to a Friend

2002 was a groundbreaking year for Particle who toured relentlessly across the country and exposed their signature “space porn” sound to old and new Particle People around the country. The year ended with a bang with a sold out New Years show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and a fantastic “SYN” Party thrown by the people at Relix Magazine in Hampton, VA a few days later. The band was happy and exhausted and knew it was time for a break and time to focus on new ideas and projects.

Particle has been enjoying some much needed time off for the last six weeks and during that time have had a chance to finally start recording their first official studio release. The band is working with veteran producer Tom Rothrock who has produced albums for Beck, The Foo Fighters, Badly Drawn Boy, and The Beta Band among many others. The album is slated for a release by this summer. Particle also recently finished recording a track called “Working For MCA” which will be featured on a Lynyrd Skynrd tribute album with other artists ranging from Kid Rock to Phish.

Some of the band members took a minute to discuss their thoughts on recording and the future:

“Working in the studio is a very introspective experience. Its gives you a chance to admire the subtle nuances, an opportunity to reflect on the past, and an opportunity to think about the future of your music. This year is going to be a big year for us, here in the United States and abroad. We are going to be touring for a large portion of 2003.” – Darren Pujalet

“We’re all so excited that Tom Rothrock is producing this album. His style really resonates with us, and he has created a studio environment that leaves us free to shine and focus only on the music. This record is a journey...it’s a diverse collection of moods and energies that we are so glad to have finally captured.” – Steve Molitz

Particle is also very excited for their up and coming tour which starts Thursday at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles where they open up for moe.. Then this weekend they are playing two sold out late-night parties at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas. The official six-week tour starts on February 28th at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The tour will stretch through Colorado and the Midwest and will hit many cities in the Northeast before returning back to Nevada to the Area 51 Soundtest where they will play a late-night Foam party! The tour is also highlighted by two night runs in Breckenridge, CO, Boulder, CO, New York City and Philadelphia, PA. Particle is also honored to be playing a kickoff party at Stubb's BBQ at this years SXSW Conference in Austin, TX.

Particle People can get excited about new material that will debut on this tour, including new originals and cover songs. Particle has also added a new array of visual lighting. Along with the music and projections, the lights will help elevate the multi-media experience and audience’s experience even further. This tour is Particle’s largest and most ambitious to date and there will be plenty of surprises along the way. Get ready for one hell of a year!!
