The oozing five headed monster also known as Strangefolk is once again
heading out to spread their unique mixture of sound waves, dance parties
and joyous celebrations of life to the masses.
The month of December will be Strange and Special for more reasons than
Christmas and Hanukkah. This tour will feature a rare run of
acoustic/electric shows with an acoustic first set followed by an
electric second set. This brief tour offers a special twist as the band prepares
for a holiday run through the Southeast with Gregg Allman and Friends.
The dates and venues for the acoustic/electric shows are:
12.10.02 | The Stanhope House | Stanhope, NJ
12.11.02 | The Downtown | Farmingdale, NY
12.12.02 | Colorado Brewery & Trading Co | Danbury, CT
12.13.02 | Chantilly's | Manchester, NH
12.14.02 | Rusty Nail | Stowe, VT
The good times will be fueled by their organically homegrown sound that
has been budding nicely for over a year. New band members Patchen
Montgomery and Don Scott have gone beyond gelling and have moved straight
to Jell-o, carving out their own space as well as adding perfectly to the
solid foundation of the three veterans.
Speaking of which, Jon Trafton (who's leads are lovingly squeezed from
the cosmic fruit of life), Erik Glockler (who is quickly becoming the
standout writer/vocalist) and Luke Smith (who is solid as a rock on
drums) have elevated their game to new levels. Listen to any of their
new stuff and it is evident that the three of them are playing better
than ever. Their ballad's can fool you with no warning at all and become
jams of such ferocity that you will look down to make sure your shoes are
still on.
From the grooving folk grass of "Fallin'" to the hurricane like frenzy of
"Gustav," Strangefolk's originals will take you for a wild ride through a
dense landscape of sonic wonders and tales of Americana. Add in the
thick selection of all our favorite covers (Beatles, Clapton, Dead, The
Who) and you have the ingredients for a batch of
Strangefolk Stew!
Get yourself to the Strangefolk Soup Kitchen and fill your bowl with
holiday cheer.
