The Zen Tricksters Acoustic Trio (ZT members Jeff Mattson, Klyph Black, and Tom Circosta) is currently in the studio working on their new CD. Tentatively titled Dean Street, the album features mostly originals including new titles such as "High Horse," "Last Ten Years," and "Sleepwalking," plus staples of their live shows, "Light of Life" and "The One." It will also include a few covers played in the interpretive Trickster style and a colorful roster of special guests including former Trickster and current member of Phil Lesh & Friends and The Other Ones, Rob Barraco, Buddy Cage from the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Barry Sless of the David Nelson Band (and virtual Trickster), Tom "Banjo" Hanway, former ZT Jason Crosby (Oteil and the Peacemakers), and Wendy Lanter from Hope In Time. Look for the CD to be available in late October.

The Trio blends two acoustic guitars, bass, and three vocals to produce a bigger sound than one would believe possible. Ranging from their tuneful and well-crafted original pieces to traditional bluegrass and hillbilly jazz classics, to Dead, Dylan, and inventive interpretations of any and all songs that catch their fancy, the Trio has a huge working repertoire. ZTAT is also renowned for the trademark jamming ability these guys have displayed for over two decades in their larger, electrified form as The Zen Tricksters. This is not your Mother's acoustic trio. They will rock you, psychedelicize you, make you cry, and pick it with the best of them!
