GARAJ MAHAL MAKES MUSIC IRRESISTABLE IN NY

Looking for a way to burn off a few extra calories? Or just a killer way to jump start the weekend? If you answered yes to either (or both!) of those questions, here is just the show for you: Garaj Mahal at the The Knitting Factory on Friday September 20th.

Folks on this coast might not instantly recognize the name of the band, as the band itself hails mostly from the Bay Area, but each of the band's members' credentials should more than just persuade you that these guys are in fact "the real deal." They should persuade you that this is one show that just can't miss.

Featuring Kai Eckhardt (bass), Blue Note recording artist Fareed Haque (guitar), Alan Hertz (drums), and Eric Levy (keys), the band's sound is flat out one of the more funkier bands on the scene. Throw a live show of theirs into your CD player, and within seconds, your head is bobbing, shoulders moving. Imagine it now. In front of you. In the cozy main space of the Knit. Need I say more?

Okay, well. Sting. John McLaughlin. Bela Fleck. Steve Kimock. Chick Corea. Dizzy Gillespie. Cassandra Wilson. Tito Puente. Will Bernard. Trey Anastasio. MMW. KDTU. Michael Kang. Robert Walter. And no, I have not just gone off on some rampant tangent. All of these folks have had previous involvements with various members of the band. Like I have been telling you: high caliber.

Still need a little more? Think pounding powerful drums keeping you in the beat. Flavorful guitar to make your head spin. A keyboard emanating sounds to bring a wide euphoric smile to your face. And tasty, original bass to tie the eclectic mix together.

If anything, think about this. Garaj Mahal is all over the place on this tour. New York. Massachusetts. Maryland. Virginia. North Carolina. South Caroline. Georgia. Mississippi. Arkansas. Arizona. Colorado. And of course, California.

They are here in the Big Apple for but one evening.

Can you really afford to miss this?
