SAN DIEGO STREET SCENE 2002

A Line-Up Jamfans Can Respect

San Diego, CA - Street-Scene, California’s largest music festival, hits the streets of downtown San Diego September 6th – 8th. This year's festival has secured over 90 bands varying from punk to electronica. Jamfans however, can be presently surprised with the influence the style has on this years Festival.

Rob Hagey Productions does an extraordinary job securing diverse acts as well as creating days that hold a musical theme. Although this theme may not be made public, it is initiated by the line-ups for the day. This year Jamfans will be fairly impressed with Saturday evening, which looks to satisfy the taste buds for a festival and grooving.

Saturday’s line-up is so diverse into to the jazz, funk, world, blues, hip hop, electronica and reggae genres, that which ever of the 9 stages you find yourself in front of, you're bound to enjoy. There are however, like any festival, must-sees that are worthy of Jamfan presence.

For two consecutive years Street-Scene has paid homage to the founding father of Jam, Jimi Hendrix, by compiling a group of talented as well as diverse artists to perform under one groove. This year, artists such as former Jane’s Addiction guitarist, Dave Navarro, former Guns and Roses guitarist Slash, Los Lobos guitarist Caesar Rojas, guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and jam bassist, Les Claypool are backed by the Band Of Gypsy’s’ drummer Buddy Miles and bassist Billy Cox to perform Hendrix originals.

Although Street Scene is hosting this tribute to Jimi, the Hendrix Family Foundation, which established the “Red House Tour,” takes this show with various guests, all over the nation. The Tour boasts a 50’ expandable semi-trailer with a variety of Hendrix memorabilia; including guitars, records, pictures and a video booth with concert as well as rehearsal footage from the late 60s with the Experience.

Pay your respects. Support the founding Father of Jam and his place in history at the 2002 San Diego Street-Scene.

Other acts at the San Diego Street Scene on Saturday, September 7th: Los Lobos, Antibalas, Ozomatli, Black Eyed Peas, 4th Avenue Jones, The Roots, George Clinton and Parliament, James Brown, Blues Traveler and Ziggy Marley.
