A new site on the World Wide Web has been established to assist drummer Richie Hayward's 19 year old son, Severn, who was seriously injured in a December, 2001 automobile accident in Los Angeles, CA.

The Little Feat Fan's Fundraising Project, located at <http://www.faerae.com/feat>, provides visitors access to online auctions of Rock and Roll memorabilia, online raffles, and other events to help defer Hayward's medical bills not covered by insurance. Donation information to the project can also be sent from the site. The site, described as "extraordinary" by Paul Barrere, lead guitar player for Little Feat, provides music fans not only access to one of a kind treasures but presents access to information and support for other families faced with catastrophic medical and rehabilitation bills.

"This project is a very heartfelt effort and the site is a labor of care and concern," says Rick Moore, developer of the site. "The website is a true collaboration of efforts from the well-organized Little Feat fan base," Moore notes. "The true power of the Internet lies in allowing people to communicate and collaborate -and the fans of Little Feat have proved that time and time again. The soaring cost of medical treatment and the persnickety nature of insurance companies have left many families devastated, and it's our intention to help ease that kind of suffering." Moore noted that this website is an ongoing effort for the Hayward family, and will also reach out to others faced with similar problems in the future.

Moore, along with the other members of the Grassroots organization, said he compiled the site after reading of Severn's accident in the Little Feat mailing list, HoyHoy, which keeps all of the fans connected with each other and the band. "This effort by the fans of Little Feat has been such a boost to our family's morale" said drummer Richie Hayward, "there's enough worry when a loved one is involved in a serious accident and knowing that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train is a great relief."

The website will offer up memorabilia from such noted artists as Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Levon Helm of The Band, Wavy Gravy, Jackson Brown, The Radiators, Leftover Salmon, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Hot Tuna and the Fur Peace Ranch, as well as Little Feat and many others. New artists are donating every day. Little Feat fans have also jumped on the bandwagon with such items as a three-day Golf School, bath and beauty products and music memorabilia. Relix and Modern Drummer magazines have donated subscriptions and products, and Blue Storm Music has provided the site with new CD release packages.
