Outdoor Music Adventure Promised at Camp Buzz
9th Annual Ohio Music Festival to Showcase 20 Bands on July 19-20

If listening to 20 live bands from around the country for two sunny days and two starry nights -- along with free camping, great food, arts vendors, lightshows, and plenty of surprises -- sounds like your idea of fun, then make sure to add the Camp Buzz Music Festival to your calendar. One of Ohio’s largest outdoor music festivals, Camp Buzz comes to Camp America, a beautiful private retreat center located near Hueston Woods State Park in College Corner, OH, just about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.

In addition to bands jamming on two stages, Camp Buzz offers a unique outdoor experience mixing live music, warm sunshine, great food, camping, good vibes, and many special events during the two-day weekend event. Attendees can explore Chickabee Village, get down in the Boogie Barn, sample foods from Camp Buzz’s own chef, as well as participate in art installations, games, and other fun surprises.

This year, the band line-up includes a wide range of musical styles including jazz, rock, bluegrass, funk, groove, and electronica to name a few. Main Stage headliners are as follows:
Deep Banana Blackout (Connecticut) – Nationally known funk masters offer a wide variety of influences ranging from soul, funk and jazz, to Latin, rock, and psychedelia. With rich vocals and fat horns, all driven by a masterful rhythm section, their songs run the gamut, from lush and colorful, to plain low down and dirty.
Ray's Music Exchange (Cincinnati) - a six piece ensemble dedicated to the creation of eclectic and innovative music with influences ranging from jazz and funk, to world beat and experimental, the collective result is unique and balanced.
Mike Clark (New York City) – formerly with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, legendary jazz drummer Mike Clark has assembled an amazing band of performers who draw upon their diverse backgrounds to craft a jam that builds and dives in pure free-form style.
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey (Tulsa, OK) – still young, but veteran road warriors, this neo-jazz band has been shaking up the groove scene from coast to coast. They have a dynamic and experimental nature that results in stunning performances praised by many jazz legends as truly groundbreaking.
The Camp America venue offers more than 30 acres of open fields, a Lodge, cabins, and plenty of wooded camping areas. Two stages will offer continuous music day and night, along with impressive lightshows from both stages during the nightly performances. The venue also offers large sleeping cabins, a pond, volleyball courts, and convenient on-site parking.

“We are totally psyched about the band roster we’ve lined up this year,” said organizer Ryan “Buzz” Bussey. “Never before has an outdoor festival in this region assembled such a strong and diverse set of talent all in one event. It’s going to be one hell of a show.”

Camp Buzz is cooperating with two other outdoor music festivals to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House by collecting aluminum can tabs. Attendees can donate their tabs at Camp Buzz to help needy families with seriously ill children. All proceeds from the tab collection and recycling at the event will be donated to the charity.

The festival will be held rain or shine on July 19-20, 2002, with the music kicking off Friday about 3:30pm. Saturday performances will begin at noon and continue until about 1am. Advance tickets are available by phone with credit card at 513.921.9500 or online at www.ticketweb.com, as well as through retail outlets. For more information, visit www.campbuzz.com. Advance tickets cost $35.00 plus service fees and are $50.00 the day of the show. All tickets include free tent camping for the entire weekend.
