Today Cowboy Junkies lead singer Margo Timmins celebrates her 49th birthday. Despite early success that sealed their cultural soundbite for many as "that 'Sweet Jane' band," the Junkies have evolved into one of the longest lasting independent acts in rock, steadily releasing new albums and touring worldwide for almost 30 years. Dig into their songs and one finds a lot of dead bodies and deep blues spirit, and they surely aren't afraid to jam a bit, as the first and last clips in our weekly triple-shot show. And out in front of it all is Margo's seductive, mercurial voice capable of serious growl when the mood suits her. Happy natal day, Margo.
