Kool 101.9 brought Indianapolis its second great show in 3 days as The Wailers came to town. The nearly sold-out show proved the everlasting power of Bob Marley and his music. Local Reggae DJs established the atmosphere, spinning some of Reggae's finest. As more and more requests for Bob came out, the DJs explained that they didn't play Marley before Marley's music is performed. This set the stage for a true celebration of the Legend and his music.

The band began with two instrumentals, immediately proving their skill. The crowd got its first vocal treat with "Irie." The beautiful backup singers displayed amazing harmonies in "Jah live," which also showcased the first guitar jam. The sequence of "Burnin' and Lootin'," War"> "No More Trouble," "Bend Down Low"> "Kaya" brought the crowd to a climax. The fans began singing loudly on "Kaya." A few songs later the brass section led the band in "Running Away"> "Crazy Bald Heads." Other favorites, "Trenchtown Rock" and "No Woman No Cry" had the crowd singing louder than the band. The set concluded with a funky "Jammin'" that featured all the players exchanging solos.

The encore provided a good glimpse of the overall show. Instrumentals led off and allowed the band to flex its muscles. These songs were followed by two favorites that were slightly tweaked from the originals. "Redemption Song" was played with an electric guitar, which gave it a more rockin' feel. "Exodus" was very funky and provided the finale to a wonderful show.

The band left the audience with a greater appreciation of reggae and Bob Marley's influence by playing his music and playing it well. Reggae shows provide some of the most diverse crowds on the scene and Thursday the crowd was all smiles. The Wailers kept Bob's spirit alive and well by spreading his many messages, through his music.
