Zony Mash at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco
April 7th and 8th
At times it seems that the more impressive instrumental bands often slip under the radar of even the informed music consumer's map. Zony Mash is one of those bands. Hailing from Seattle, this amazing band escapes classification. In the course of any given Zony Mash engagement you'll hear influences ranging form psychedelic rock, the blues and a slew of noises that conjure up images of intergalactic lounge music. At the heart of all this freaky jazzed out dance rock is Wayne Horivitz who's harmonic sense and songwriting abilities push Zony Mash out of the expected realm of music.
The amazing Wayne Horvitz is a composer, pianist, producer and electronic musician who performs extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. He is the leader of Zony Mash, the Four plus One Ensemble, and co-founder of the New York Composers Orchestra and Ponga (with Skerik, Dave Palmer and Bobby Previte). He has performed and collaborated with a huge laundry list of greats including Bill Frisell, John Zorn, Robin Holcomb and many others.
On Monday night some very special guests will be joining Zony Mash at the Boom Boom Room. A full horn section featuring Jessica Lurie, Jeff Cressman, Mike Olmos, and Rob Sudduth, will be complementing Wayne and Zony Mash. Not only has this collaboration been a huge success in Seattle, Wayne wrote all the music for the horns as well, further proving his musical abilities.
This is a rare and special treat. Don't miss you chance to catch one of the most impressive musical outfits around!
