Excited fans overflowed onto the sidewalk Thursday night as Moonshine Still drew more than 325 people to Amici, a Milledgeville, GA restaurant/bar that holds about 300. Locals and concert goers fortunate enough to carve a tiny personal space inside were treated to a show full of energy as band members played old favorites and a couple of new songs in one massive set.
Fresh from wrapping up recording a new album at Elixir Studios in Athens, GA, Moonshine Still took advantage of the small venue and played without their standard lights to create a more intimate atmosphere. The packed house could focus on the band’s smooth grooves, driving rhythms and funky jams, illuminated only by the soft, white and blue lights of the bar.
The simple, mellow environment was contrasted by the energized crowd struggling to dance elbow to elbow. It was a change from Moonshine’s usual appearance, but the same great music and outstanding three part harmonies were ever present.
The new album is slated for release sometime this fall. Moonshine Still will once again be performing at Turtle Jam on Saturday May 18th along with Skydog Gypsy, ulu, Perpetual Groove and Doublestack. For more information visit the Turtle Jam website or see the Turtle Jam schedule in JamBase.
