On April 23, 1977, The Dirty Dozen
Brass Band exploded into the
streets of New Orleans and the band's first "official" gig lasted for 3
straight days and nights. 7,214 performances, 9 albums, and 25 years later
they are back.
The Dirty Dozen will do an unprecedented 11 night long record release
party at JAZZFEST 2002 in New Orleans. DDBB will celebrate their 25th
anniversary at Jazzfest AND the April 24 release of their latest ropeadope records release,
MEDICATED MAGIC (featuring special guests Norah Jones, Dr. John, John Bell
of Widespread
Panic, Robert
Randolph, Olu
Dara and DJ
Logic) the Dozen will party for 11 nights straight at NOLA's legendary
Mermaid Lounge.
"We wanted to bring jazz fest back to the early days, when ticket prices
were low, and venues were small and intimate" says DDBB's Efrem Townes. Not
only will the Dozen be featuring special guests sitting in each night, each evening
will also include DJ Logic spinning
in between sets and then turning it into a rave till the sun comes up every
morning.
Undoubtedly, this will be THE spot to be every late night. See you at the
Fest!
