Things are about to get a little bit hotter down on the lovely U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix for the month of March. Gent Treadly, a New York City based trio has decided to bring its unique brand of roots based rock and roll to this Caribbean paradise!
Since its inception in 1994 Gent Treadly has been a movable feast of some of the finest players in NYC. The lineup consists of one of the slammingest rhythm sections you'll ever hear: Greg Koerner on bass (a veteran of New York bands Uncle Buzz, The Joneses and Crimson Rose and more recently a "phil-in" for the Dark Star Orchestra) and Tom Kaelin on drums (formerly of Gravity, Dreamspeak and Atlantic recording artists, The Hatters). Mike Jaimes rounds out the lineup as a guitarist who can truly shred. Mike has been a mainstay of the NYC scene for over a decade as a founding member of Native and more recently, as a sideman for Craig Dreyer & Fiends.
Gent Treadly is truly a unique act and the players are the real deal. Together, they've evolved into one of the most heralded units in Manhattan - offering a precocious blend of bluesy improvisational roots rock. Other major artists agree: over the years these guys have been joined onstage by members of The Grateful Dead, Phish, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Merl Saunders, The Band, Jorma Kaukonen, The Neville Brothers, Leftover Salmon, Milo Z and many others.
This is not Gent Treadly’s first trip to St. Croix. Aided by Cruzan friends and fellow New York transplants the trio came down in the Spring of 2000 and enjoyed themselves so much they decided they had to do it again, especially after enduring one of the toughest New York fall/winter seasons ever. They’ll be playing many of the same clubs they visited last time on the island. The Gent Treadly itinerary in St. Croix thus far is:
