During Tony Allen’s last US tour (Spring 2000), Doctor L and the members of the Afrobeat 2000 Band decided to team up and create a collective album together, co-writing both music and lyrics to create a “unique spectrum of sound” that reflects their musical and spiritual attitudes.

Partially recorded on Doctor L’s Mac G3 on the bus in the midst of the tour and finished later in various studios in Paris with guest musicians, Smadj, Dom Farkas and Eric Gauthier, the Psyco on Da Bus project fills the gap between the 70’s and the new millennium. Its blend of Afrobeat rhythms, gospel & soul vocals, jazz & funk licks mixes flawlessly with wicked electronics and astonishing production.

From the futuristic funk of “Afropusherman” and the eastern sounds of “Many Questions” to the killer breakbeat of “Pusher Mix,” and from the understated spiritual suite of “Time To Take A Rest,” a hybrid fusion of free jazz, poetry, rare groove and nu-beats, to the outstanding “Never Satisfied,” Psyco on Da Bus is one of the greatest achievements in musical production to come out on Platform. The CD is accompanied by two video clips created by Parisian artist & director Edouard Salier.
