Silversun Pickups: Swoon Stream It Here Now

You know what the best thing about the Internet is? Well, besides all the dirty stuff, it's how fast information travels. For example, the Silversun Pickups released their new album Swoon yesterday (4/14 on Dangerbird Records). Until fairly recently (like turn of the century) you would have had to walk down to your local record store and purchase the album if you wanted to hear it. And until very recently you would have had to at least pay to download it from iTunes or cough up some cash to stream it on a service like Rhapsody; but now, you can just rock that shit for free right here!

And for those keeping score, here's all the PR fluff...

Silversun Pickups
LOS ANGELES, April 15, 2009 - The anticipation is over. Silversun Pickups' awaited sophomore album, Swoon, was released yesterday on Dangerbird Records and is poised to be a chart topper. First single, "Panic Switch," raced into the Top 10 on Modern Rock radio charts in merely four weeks while the James Frost-directed video is making rounds across various MTV channels, as well as VH-1 and Fuse.

Rolling Stone described Swoon as "A wily Cure-like mix of viscera (tumbling drums, explosive guitar) and vocal anxiety," where Alternative Press advised, "If you're looking for a reference point for Swoon, think Radiohead's highly textured In Rainbows." [For the record, we like the album but that's a ridiculous statement. -Ed]

The foursome recently began road-testing their dichotomous, dense material in a live setting, which included a memorable performance alongside legends Metallica, for the Guitar Hero® event at SXSW, as well as a sold-out show at the Glass House in Pomona, California. Additional festival appearances have been added (see full schedule below).

Immediately following their Coachella performance this Friday, April 17, SSPU will head north for a unique and intimate in-store at Rasputin in Berkeley, as part of National Record Store Day. The L.A. quartet will celebrate the spirit of independence and regroup with their core fan base, offering a rare performance followed by a signing. They'll even take over register duties for a period of time!

The music is good, but i liked it better when the smashing pumpkins did it in 1992

^ I really dig these guys but I can't argue with your comment haha. I also hear their live show is boring. Still some good grunge music.

I highly recommend this album. This being their sophomore effort, it really shows that their sound growing and that they're here to stay. Yes, the Smashing Pumpkin influence shines through, but that still doesn't mean they're not a great band with a bright future.

wow. this album is a bust. from what i remember of the first album (which was decent), it's a bit disappointing. I could not stand to listen any longer than halfway thru the third track.
