The Allman Brothers Band Announces the Release of
Their 15 show 2009 Beacon Theatre Run with The Beacon Box

ABB
To commemorate their 40th anniversary, The Allman Brothers Band is releasing a Beacon Box live CD package, capturing all 15 sold-out shows from the group's recent March stand at the venerable Beacon Theatre in New York City. This is the first time the band has made CDs available from their annual visits to New York, which date back to 1989 and includes 188 consecutive sold-out shows at the Beacon.

This run was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman, seminal guitarist and founder of the band, and to help celebrate Duane's legacy, 60 special guests shared the stage with the Allman Brothers Band. The list includes a "Who's Who" of rock, jazz and jams greats, including Levon Helm, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, Boz Scaggs, Johnny Winter, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Herring, John Bell, Stanley Clarke, Kid Rock, Bonnie Bramlett, Robert Randolph, John Hammond, Billy Gibbons, David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas, Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Jerry Jammott, Bernard Purdie, Jimmy Smith, Chuck Leavell, Bruce Hornsby, Jimmy Hall, Susan Tedeschi, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and many others. Also appearing for two nights with the band was the inimitable Eric Clapton, who teamed with Duane Allman to record Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs in 1970; considered by many critics to be the finest guitar album of all time. This marked the first time Clapton had played with the Allman Brothers Band in a public setting.

The fact that the band performed at its considerable best in its 40th year is a remarkable testament to the talents of America's finest live performance group, and all the magic of timeless classics, newer tunes and spectacular cover songs shines through on the Beacon Box live CD package. The 15 historical shows will be packaged in a custom-made, serial numbered and hand-crafted box for $499. In addition to the Beacon concerts, this box set will include a special bonus performance of the Allman Brothers Band at Warren Haynes' 20th annual Christmas Jam which occurred in December of 2008. Also included in the box set will be 40 exclusive photos taken during the run by ABB Tour Mystic, Kirk West. Shows are also available on an individual basis as well.

this was last weeks news, OOh i forgot this is jambase.i just bought individual shows, not really intrested in the sheryl crow night, or the kid rock night. for those getting individuals too, 3/26, 3/20, 3/12, and 3/23, 3/28 is the way to go, in that order. p.s. if you buy every show at cost it comes out to 412$ or something like that, its actually 100 more for the pictures and the added show.

I've got one on the way, yes it's steep, but this is history. The stuff on the net for free is unpolished, sounds rough in a few places. I'm looking forward to the box arriving in May. If I had gone to one show in NY, I would have spent more then that, I'm justifying this to myself, and my wife. See you in Greensboro tomorrow night.

I watched all 15 shows on Moogis.com Best $125 I ever spent But I don't know why they don't use shows from the past performances at the Beacon and not just the shows from this run. There were way to many songs repeated almost nightly. If they knew they were going to be doing this they definitely needed to play a wider number of songs and delved deeper into their catalog. And $500? Does that come with a Filipino hooker and a happy ending?

Probably more expensive because they have to pay out all of those guest stars their royalties too. Maybe iTunes will do a cheaper alternative?

The extra show that comes with it is a gem im sure. Seems like i remember Gregg forgetting some words that night (everynight) but besides that it was a great show. JPJ sitting in for some jams and other guests as well. Id love to have a SBD of this show! That wodden box better be hand carved by the band themselves for that kind of money though.

It was a Warren Haynes money-making idea...

PLEASE STOP MENTIONING FREE DOWNLOADS. ARE YOU PEOPLE STUPID? DON'T RUIN A GOOD THING FOR EVERYONE. YOUR BEST TO JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. NOT TRYING TO BE A DICK, BUT IT'S BEYOND STUPID TO MENTION THAT HERE.

"Royce" did you just slam Warren Haynes? I don't quite see Warren as a money making opportunist, I see him as the hardest working man in show bidness.

See The Deepest End for clarification.

like i said, i wasn't trying to be a dick. only reason i said something was because we were one step away from disaster. dire46dayswolf...it's all good man, no worries. Just gotta realize that jambase is set up to sell records. Not to mention certain bands get pretty anal about their shows getting traded ect ect. ;)

The band has to pay some stageworkers union fees at the Beacon for recording there as I understand it. That is why other than a webcast in 1998, Peakin' at the Beacon(2000), and the dvd(LATBeaconTheatre 2003) and double cd(One Way Out 2003) that they really haven't done stuff like IL/Munckmix type recordings until this, the very marketable 40th Anniversary year. Too cost prohibitive to do it every year in the bands eyes. Also most guests were *not* paid to perform at the Beacon, I believe the exception was Eric Clapton both nights as I've read.

And not that I agree with the price at all, as I think it is completely insane. If they ever release something *Multi-track*, rather than the 2 track soundboards then I may possibly bite.

Also I agree with FloridaJam, mentioning publicly that you are or want to electronically file trade shows by bands who do not allow it is NOT cool at all. Also trading commercially released stuff is definitely NOT cool at all. If you must do either at the very least take it to PM and don't mention it on a public forum.

Love ABB and always have, but $500, really? Must be a gold box. I'm not soliciting here but it will not be hard for me to buy 2-3 shows and trade with friends who do the same and eventually get all 15. Sorry guys but I have to feed my family and save for Wanee, Phish, and other summer shows. $500, damn who can afford that.

Don't trade free soundboard links in PMs-- Jambase reads all messages and will rat the sites out, anyway. It's happened before...
