Jack White's Dead Weather: Announce First Public Show

The Dead Weather Announce Their First Public Performance

The Dead Weather
"The 11 songs on the album... are spare and sexy, with the vocals often distorted or submerged beneath grinding, snaky rhythms." –The New York Times

"...a...bluesy blend of psych-rock guitar, alternately stark and explosive rhythms and Mosshart's sultry-to-siren vocal..." –RollingStone.com

On the verge of releasing their hotly-anticipated debut album, Horehound, brand new rock outfit The Dead Weather are announcing their *very first* public performance at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC on April 14. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, April 8 at 10 a.m. EST, and there will be a 2 ticket limit. Tickets available here.

The Dead Weather are Dean Fertita (Queens Of The Stone Age), Jack Lawrence (The Greenhornes/The Raconteurs), Alison Mosshart (The Kills) and Jack White (The White Stripes/The Raconteurs). Jack White produced Horehound, which was recorded at his Third Man Studios in Nashville earlier this year and is slated for a late June release. The album will be the first full-length release on White's own Third Man Records, which includes a fully operational HQ in Nashville that houses a vinyl record store, photo studio, dark room and performance stage.

The band has released two songs exclusively on iTunes and on limited edition 7" inch vinyl, "Hang You From The Heavens" and "Are Friends Electric?"

It's funny to say that you're going to bite your tongue. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Sounds like decent rock n roll to me. I like the other single that's out ("Are Friends Electric?") a little better.

"It's funny to say that you're going to bite your tongue. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?"

mind=blown. ha but yeah i agree with that.

anyway, i've never seen the white stripes live, did catch a bit of the raconteurs last year at lolla but otherwise i've never seen jack white live. my review after checking out that youtube clip...it's cool but i'm unsure about the vocals but otherwise this sounds pretty stoooooned. jack white seems to have a knack for making cool music based on the simplest of riffs. i remember learning some old white stripes songs when i started playing guitar. good stuff. hopefully they bring the jam when they do it live?

not too shabby... i agree with briank67, Jack White's always taken simple riffs and simply made them sounds fantastic and fun. I kinda dig this single, not exactly my style but im enjoying my first listen now. Don't have too much to offer, but Jack White's been successful since he was with Meg and it doesn't seem like this band will have any problem finding a following either.

Jack and his bands always have the most amazing energy at their shows. The White Stripes were dope when i saw them, and The Raconteurs were sick at the Roo last summer. Did you know Jack plays the drums in this band...interesting! I can dig it

Lets not compare apples to oranges. Jack is Jack, Trey is Trey, Jerry is Jerry... Its about energy and heart and for Jack, rocking out. Try it some time it feels good. Why H8 on that? PS: Bands with makeup - Bob Dylan 77, David Bowie, Kiss, The Cure, RHCP, Jane's/Porno, Smashing P's...

I love how White's style flows with him from instrument to instrument. I can hear that same quirky tempo he brings to his guitar riffs when he's behind the kit.

Alison Mosshart is greatness. I think they make a fine combination. You can tell she has a west coast feel from her band The Kills so it makes for a new sound from Jack White to explore with

I've always liked Jack Black more than Jack White.

Boom shanker, I'm guessing you're a much better musician. That's probably why you're knee-deep in girls private areas and Jack White is a loser sitting at home playing World of Warcraft.

Oh wait... I got those backwards.

If you have nothing nice to say, then keep your wannabe hippy self quiet. You all are worse than the general public. I never expect that there are such mean hateful people on this site. Go listen to Cannibal Corpse....it's a better reflection of your mentality.

Anybody who says The Raconteurs are better than the White Stripes is welcome to their opinion, but they are quite silly and most likely lack essential vitamins and minerals.
