New Monsoon Is Back From Hiatus With New Live CD
To Play Album Release Concert at The Independent, San Francisco 4/11

New Monsoon
New Monsoon is making their much-anticipated return to the live performing circuit this spring with an album release concert at The Independent in San Francisco on Saturday, April 11.

Their new album, aptly titled New Monsoon Live, was recorded during an epic three-night run in Texas last September. Featuring the powerhouse current lineup of drummer Sean Hutchinson, bassist Marshall Harrell and founding members Bo Carper, Jeff Miller and Phil Ferlino, New Monsoon Live captures the band reaching one of their highest emotional, technical, and musical peaks.

Building upon their most successful studio album to date, New Monsoon V, this live two-CD set is the band's first official release from the current five-piece lineup, and their first live album since 2004. Listen to it and you will see why so many fans are touting this grouping as the ultimate Monsoon to date, and this album the ultimate live Monsoon recording.

"New Monsoon Live is defined by its powerful melodic sense and commitment to the spirit of the songs. The jam or solo always serves the song, not the other way around. There is no aimless noodling to be found here, no wasted notes." - Rob Johnson, Hittin' The Note

New Monsoon will also be performing at Wakarusa, Riverbend, Bella Fest, Old Settler's and several other festivals and venues this year in support of the live album. Complete New Monsoon tour dates available here.

Rock! Only problem is that this show is the same night as Scofield's SFJazz performance. I may have to make it a double-header night.

Fuck yeah!! Good to see em back...I've had a chance to drink a beer with a couple of em like dave23 ^^^ and they are really humble and chill. They were playing to a crowd of about 25 in Arkansas, so it was hard NOT to hang with them at the bar. After a nice conversation, they got on stage and absolutely RIPPED it for the few that were there. I've seen em bout half a dozen times, even with a full house at Horning's, and the show is always equally as AWESOME!! See em if you haven't.

I have seen the post ben/mary lineup a few tims. Monsoon is one of my favorite bands, but its been awhile since they have been down here. They sound a lot more like a pure rock band now than they used to, but its still great. Jeff Miller might just be the most underated guitar player out there, and Phil Ferlino is sick keyboard player. Bo Carper is multitalented too...as long as these 3 guys are the core this will be one of the best bands around.

I do miss Rajiv though....Its about time for a RAJIV PARIKH comeback~! You know what I'm sayin'??

May they forever storm! The music world is a better place with the blue hue of Monsoon's dark yet completely rich and alive sound.
