Epitaph/Anti- Milestone

Epitaph Label Reaches Milestone With 2 Albums In The Billboard Top 20

JamBase wants to send congratulations out to Epitaph and Anti- for scoring two separate records in the Billboard Top 20 for the first time in the history of the label. This week, emo rockers New Found Glory debuted at #9, while roots singer/songwriter Neko Case, who debuted at #3 last week on the Anti- label, is at #19. This momentous occasion marks a high point for a label which has had a long history of success.

For years, Epitaph has been one of the leading independent labels in the business, featuring an eclectic roster of artists ranging from punk to post-hardcore, power-pop to hip-hop. They have released albums from artists such as Bad Religion, NOFX, The Vandals, Social Distortion, The Cramps and The Offspring, not to mention tons of other influential and groundbreaking music over the years.

Anti-, a sub-division of Epitaph, is also having success with its diverse lineup of artists. It is home to JamBase favorites such as Tom Waits, Michael Franti, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Galactic, Xavier Rudd, Mavis Staples, Eliott Smith and many more. Upcoming releases on Anti- include:

Ramblin' Jack Elliott: A Stranger Here - April 7
Bob Mould: Life And Times - April 7
Booker T.: Potato Hole (featuring Drive-By Truckers and Neil Young) – April 21
The Field: Yesterday & Today - May 19
Jason Lytle: Yours Truly, the Commuter – May 19
Busdriver: Jhelli Beam – June 9

Anti- probably has my favorite roster of any current label. Great stuff and congrats Epitath/Anti-, it's nice when the good guys win.

I credit the Epitaph newsletter as one of the biggest influences on my way of thought now. The Punk Rock Editorial changed my life (in a most excellent way).

Great label, they deserve it. Tons of great artists and no BS.

...Although they did bring us Offspring which is one of the worst bands EVER!

I often buy albums just because of the label it's on.

Bought a Danny Cohen album because it was on anti, not very good.

Generator is indeed awesome. Check out Stranger than Fiction too, a little poppier but very well put together, great songwriting and great vocal harmonies.
