The Dead: 3 Shows 1 Day

All Images By: Dino Perrucci

The Dead performed three shows yesterday (Monday, March 30) in New York City in three different venues. First was an acoustic set featuring Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes at the 200-person Angel Orensanz at 5 p.m. Next was an electric full-band show including Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Jeff Chimenti set at the 600-person capacity Blender Theatre at Gramercy at 8 p.m., and the electric finale at the 3,200-person capacity Roseland Ballroom at 11 p.m. Of particular note, at each of these shows, ticketless fans were allowed into the venues as showtime approached. Everyone loves a miracle!

4truez Phil has an incredible voice-pretty funny stuff. His voice fits those songs you mentioned pretty well (and Tom Thumbs Blues) but when he tries to sing Jerry's songs it can be painful to listen to. That's why the best P&F stuff is the jams and when somebody else sings (JGreene,WHaynes, JOsbourne, Trey, ANYBODY ELSE). And Bobby is best when he sticks to his own songs too. Whatever happened to Lazy Lightening, the full Let It Grow w/WRS, and Man Smart,Woman Smarter-they should have played that on the view.

just saw this on jambands.com, thought u guys would enjoy it

The Dead Announce Movie Series on Lifetime Network

Following their appearance on The View earlier this week, the members of the Dead have announced a film production deal that will appeal to their emerging new demographic. On the heels of the recent Nora Roberts Lifetime Movie Series, The Dead will brand a number of films on the Lifetime Network with narrative arcs that complement the group’s canon of songs.

The first such effort, “Brokedown Palace,” set in the Kansas frontier of the 1850’s, stars Warren Haynes as a burly woodsman who begins an unlikely romance with a prim schoolmarm (Phil Lesh) while rebuilding a log cabin decimated by storm. This will be followed by “It Must have Been The Roses,” a love triangle set in a floral shop, starring Bob Weir, LeAnn Rimes and Joy Behar. Also in the works is “Black Peter” about the tragic impact of venereal disease on a “perfect” suburban couple.

hahahaha

I think that the idea was really cool but there is something about this that really bothers me. The initial article said specifically something to the effect of: IF YOU ARE NOT A LUCKY WINNER DO NOT COME TO THE SHOWS.

Then they just reward all of the people who deliberately went against what they said by letting them all in!! All of the fans who actually respected their wishes and didn't show up get nothing (except having to pay a lot of money to see them on tour). If I had known I could have gotten in anyway I would have showed up.
