Del Tha Funky HomosapienFree Downloads/Tour Dates

"Psst…I got ur funk right here!"
Hip-hop super-giant Del will release his own "stimulus package" (more details in cheeky video address below) to the "public at large," when he offers his new album, Funkman, for free download on his site starting April 7, 2009.

In the meantime, Del is offering two free volumes in the Leak Pack series. Just jump over here to pick up your quality head-snap courtesy of Del and friends, as the Funky Homosapien previews his plan for the greater good of hip-hop during this recession of funk.

2008's Eleventh Hour ended a long absence for Del, and it was a triumphant return for one of the pioneers of underground hip-hop culture. With Funkman, Del takes his music theory and picks up where he left off in 2000 - but with more knowledge of technology and music

"It's going to be sometime before any sensation captures people's interest on a whole again like hip-hop did," says Del, " I could be wrong, but I'm letting people know they need to mess with me in the meantime. People are jaded that's all, and I don't blame them - things come to the head, places switching - it's a crazy trip!"

Del is the freakin' man!!! Deltron 3030 is the best rap album ever, I heard he's almost done with a sequel.

Hiero' ya'll ... I'm gonna have to go all in, hands down on No Need for Alarm for Del's finest product... but "hiphop" of ALL-TIME i'd throw in either Wu-Tang Clan's Enter the 36 Chambers, Eric B & Rakim's Paid in Full, or A Tribe Called Quest's Low End Theory..

okay Ron, great album i will agree but definitely not the best rap album ever. in fact, that statement is so naive that it kinda pisses me off. what jen and smashy said, well i can't argue with those, all incredible hip hop albums, especially Illmatic and 36 Chambers, good call

I've seen Del live twice, and he sucks in person. He's so strung out on smack, it was sad really.

I've seen Del too many times to count, going back to 97, and I think he's the most hit or miss artist out there. (along with Bob Dylan) He's either bringing the house down with some funky ass hip hop n freestyles, or he's 45 minutes late and too drunk to stand up.(literally, I've seen him do a 2 hour show sitting on a folding chair and sipping OE) Also, hands down the greatest hip hop group ever, bar none, is Haiku D'etat: Abstract Rude, Mikah 9, and Aceyalone. Their 2 albums from '04 are light years beyond anything else, musically and lyrically. Not to mention all their solo work,The A-Team, Abstract Tribe Unique, Project Blowed, FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP, . . .

Del on smack? Come on now! Where are your sources for that? Although I do agree, his live appearances lack. I think its do to it being difficult to keep a monotone voice in concert. Atleast that is what I thought when I saw him. I couldn't hear em for shit. But maybe that was the soundtechs fault. Case and point, when Del in the studio and is with Automator or someone that can produce dope beats like Amp_live, his shit can match anyone out there. But 3030 was something that just has never been done. Extremely innovative and in HEAVY rotation in my car.

illmatic is the best allover rap album off all time (PERIOD)

there alot of other really good ones, but Nas dropped a atom bomb of an album on the rap industry when he released that

- anyone have Eminems first album "infinit" - i like when you hear rappers before they get big and you can just tell there raw & hungry as hell (this is one of those albums)

prolly one of my top 3 favorite rap albums

I find this to be awesome news and definitely a major source of excitement as Del is clearly a member in a selective category of skilled MCs, but, and I hate to say it, 11th hour was a bit of a disappointment, and a mediocre album at best when compared to some of Del's other pieces (i.e. No Need, Both Sides of the Brain, and of course, 3030.) I'd like to believe that he's still got it, that Funkman will redeem him a bit, and most importantly, that the 3030 sequel will absolutely destroy, but I'm just a bit dubious considering the flop. I'd just like to see the dude get back on track, and am hoping this helps him do so. we shall see. and while I wouldn't consider 3030 THE greatest rap/hip-hop album of all time (a category in which I'd throw Talib's [as Reflection Eternal] Train of Thought, Common's Resurrection and The Roots' Organix), i would say at least for me it's one of the (if not THE) best concept album, and pretty unparalleled on that front. either way, the fact that the man is back to making non-stop music and (apparently) putting a bunch of effort into the sequel project is just simply good to hear.

Illmatic the best ever? I dunno, Id definitely agree with the previous post regarding ATliens, Blackstarr, and 36 Chambers, Also revolutionary volume 2 is ridiculously amazing lyrically, if yall havent checked out Immortal Technique do so. Two of my personal favorites are Mos Def "The New Danger" and The Roots "Things Fall Apart" (Hardly any Rap/Hip Hop that sounds as smooth live as this or them)

You can't bring up gangsta rappers in this discussion because they are not hip hop. Rap and hip hop are NOT the same thing. Rap is about money, drugs, cars, women, killing people. While hip hop is actually topics on real things that might not be so cliche. Ice cube isn't hard core or tough...he grew up in an upper middle class family and went to college for filmaking. As much as I love NWA he is all for show in that. That is the difference between rap and hip hop.
