Caribbean Holidaze 2009

Announcing Caribbean Holidaze 2009

From December 10-14, 2009, magical things will happen. Let us all bask in the sunshine, swim in theocean, sip on dirty bananas with little umbrellas while we listen to the sweet sounds of our favorite bands. Shoes are optional all week long as the moon and stars watch over us and music fills our souls all night long. Along with The Disco Biscuits and Umphrey's McGee, Cloud 9 Adventures is proud to announce the complete artist lineup joining us in Jamaica for Caribbean Holidaze:

Umphrey's McGee
Umphrey's McGee
the New Deal
Perpetual Groove
Lipp Service
Yacht Rock
Omega Moos
Michael G from Easy Star
Brock Butler solo
Dan Lebowitz solo
Late nights in the Disco with D-BO, DrFameus and others!

Let the music play day and night at Caribbean Holidaze. Here is a brief breakdown on how it works:

3 Disco Biscuits shows • 3 Umphrey's McGee shows
2 shows by the New Deal • 2 shows by Perpetual Groove
2 shows of Lipp Service "Eliot Lipp & Members of Pnuma"
1 Yacht Rock show • 1 Omega Moos show
1 Dan Lebowitz solo show • 1 Brock Butler solo show
2 shows by Michael G from Easy Star
Late nights in the Disco with D-BO, DrFameus and others!

Yacht Rock is Dan Lebowitz, Jamie Shields and Ryan Stasik, with Kris Myers and Joel Cummins of Umphrey's McGee. The smooth sounds from '76-'84 come alive with the musical reincarnation of this momentous phenomenon. The hottest rock stars you know and love will perform.

Omega Moos: Proficient melodic wankery and rump-shaking prog-rock remix meets Genesis and what they would sound like if produced by DJ Tiesto. It's a blast from the past dance party times a thousand. It takes the sounds of Jamie Shields and Darren Shearer to elevate its rock-ness, while adding a dirty breakbeat feel to the signature sounds of Brendan Bayliss and Ryan Stasik.

Michael G from Easy Star All-Stars will be performing material from the band's Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread, and their new album Lonely Hearts Dub Band.

There are only 400 rooms total and 250 of them are already reserved for people who knew they were coming no matter what. Until midnight on Monday April 1, visit the booking page to reserve your room. By paying a deposit of $250 per person you will be HOLDING A ROOM at the Caribbean Holidaze event.

AFTER pre-booking ends, all those who have made reservations will be processed and booked. If any rooms still remain, the public on-sale will take place starting Monday, April 27.

If you have any questions, call the Travel Department at 561.368.8922.

The tropical settings of Breezes and Hedonism in Runaway Bay, Jamaica are ideal for music lovers wanting a true vacation. The resorts are both super-inclusive which means once you step onto the property, put your wallets away - food, drink, activities and MUSIC are included in the price of the trip.

Here are some incentives to refer as many friends as you can. It's easy:

• You get a $50 cash referral fee for each NEW Caribbean Holidaze guest referred by you.
• You must have attended one previous Caribbean Holidaze's in order to refer someone and get credit for it.
• The person you are referring cannot be in your room, they have to be in a separate room.
• You can only pick up your cash incentive on site, so you must attend the event. You will be told how to pick it up.
• Your name MUST be entered by the new guest at the time of booking - NO EXCEPTIONS!
• You can refer as many new people as you want, this is a FAMILY AFFAIR!

Pre-book your spot on this one-of-a-kind event here.

toubab would absolutely make this thing more worthwhile. love the new deal and all, but too many bands of similar style, toubab would've been a nice diverse act

Did somebody post eh? WTF? One of the sickest parties in the world. Add the new deal to it, and its gonna rage. Been the last 2 years. Great times. All you can eat, all you can drink. Costs about a grand per head plus airfare. THis very well may be the last year they do it in jamaica too. See ya by the fence, peace.

RonCronDon

I'm not gonna post some childish "they suck" rant but honestly I've seen umphreys and the biscuits 5-6 time each they're not horrible but they just don't do it for me. To quote mrknowitall^^ "meh." To put it more accurately, you form a band to write songs and the jams naturally come out of them, not the other way around. Then again I've been playing guitar for 13 years, know a great deal of music theory so if you just want to do drugs and dance around these guys should do it for you. To each their own I guess...

If you appreciate music so much and you have actually took the time and listened to these bands you would know that umphreys and bisco are incredibly different. I agree that bisco relies heavily on trance-like jams to make up for their lack of song-writing skills but umphreys is a whole nother story. They are all excellent live musicians but they also compose intricate and well developed albums and various songs. And to the guy who said "meh" to this incredible experience please point me towards whatever godlike music festivals yyou have attended, and no, widespread concerts dont count.

rsb8004^^ You got me convinced I'll give umph another shot they made a few albums since I sonically retired them. As for Bisco, they attract "The wrong kind of white people." (for the Christian Lander fans out there.)

WharfRat... "Nothing currently touring is more godlike than WSP"? I love WP (by the way widespread is one word), but if you haven't heard, both Phish and The Dead (originators and masters of everything jam)are touring these days. I'm sorry, but you're mistaken and your case is far from being closed!

The picture alone earns this story the worst possible rating!

Seriously...beautiful beaches, funk spliffs, stage/crowd shots, artists chillen backstage...and they choose Stasik's package?? Not the best marketing idea that's for damn sure. Clean that up Jambase. But I've only heard great things about the Holidaze. Lot of bust outs, surprise acts, intimate crowd, venue and resort. Great drink and toke deals. And Bisco, Umph and TND usually let the energy of the environment and crowd influence their vibe. Chillen beachside in Jamaica is really as positive an influence as it gets.

And like I've always said... I am all set giving my money to some European who builds a huge all inclusive resort in Jamaica and doesn't even give back to the impoverished country by paying fair wages to the few locals they employ. If I go to Jamaica, I will stay at hostels owned by Jamaicans and I will support Jamaican music. Fuck all inclusive resorts.

Smashy i totally get your second comment, fuck assholes resorts that only exploit the nation, but never give anything back, people should talk to the bands and see what they can do about that, the good thing about the jam community is the band/fan interaction and i think that the bands would listen and do anything they could about it.

anyone who doubts the disco biscuits has not listened to them, or seen them lately, they've awoken from their slumber, i know its easy to make fun of them, but don't just float with the crowd, actually listen to what they are playing and you will see that they have more deep and interesting music and jams then most bands.

(yea i know you are going to quote some lyrics like "we just came for the chicks" and go LOL, or some other lame comment about their vocals (which have gotten better), but just remember they play music for the people, missing out on them is only your loss)

Wow Smashy, you just dogged me for being "righteous" the other day, and then you post shit like that. Yeah we know you are too intelligent for jam music. This fest if for frat boys right? Who even cares if someone is in a frat or sorority, you should get to know them and judge them for the person they are. My sister was in a sorority, and she actually went to Jamaica to teach at school and do relief work. She said the children were balling when they left. The program she worked for made them stay at a resort because the murder rate in Jamaica is absolutely off the charts. Have fun going to dance halls and hostels, maybe you will see the states again one day. How do you even know what wages the workers at this resort make? I'm sure they are all paid decent wages by Jamaican standards, and happy to have actually have work, if they weren't, they wouldn't work there. The truth is you can't have busboys at resorts making more then the doctors who live in the same town. I also hope that most people who visit these resorts you are hating on, will tip all the workers, which will put even more money in their deserving grateful hands. So please don't start generalizing about something that you apparently have no idea about.

UM and Bisco have to be two of the most mind numbing bands on the scene and the people they attract are even worse (why waste your money on a concert ticket when you can use it for more dope?), i think i rather swim that distance then have to sit through three nights of each of them. id say all of you would be better off saving your money for jam cruise where they keep you entertained with awesome music instead of the same three notes all week.
