KARL DENSON'S TINY UNIVERSE TO HEADLINE APRIL 18 GATHERING
Karl Denson |
The 2nd annual Asheville Earth Day Celebration is set to take place on
Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in downtown
Asheville, NC. The event will again be an all day celebration of the
conscious community of Asheville, and will feature an expansive Eco-village,
with consciously active organizations participating with informational
booths, an Earth Echo Stage for educational speakers from the various
organizations, and a kids area for the whole family.
The event will also include a live music stage with performances by jazz
fusion virtuosos Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, local soul
sensation Laura Reed & Deep Pocket, world beat jam band Sol Driven Train,
local bluegrass up-and-comers High Windy, guitar virtuoso and looping
extraordinaire Zach Deputy and singer/songwriter Jen and the Juice. Other music will be announced as the event comes closer, and will include an array of local, conscious acts that represent and support the local community and its efforts towards a better earth.
The event is scheduled for activities and music going from 11am until 10pm. Though the music stage will be active most of the day, the festivities are meant to focus on the
conscious issues that surround everyday life in the city of Asheville and across our fragile Earth, and to celebrate the consciousness of the Asheville community, one which strives in its local economy everyday in order to better its own community with conscious living.
There will also be an official Earth Day After-Party and Superjam,
to be held at Stella Blue on 31 Patton Ave., hosted by Zach Deputy and
featuring musical talents from the event at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.
The After-Party will begin upon the completion of the Earth Day Celebration at
roughly 10pm. Ticket info and official Superjam line-up to be announced.
