What an amazing weekend. THANK YOU LE PHISH!
since when did Fish start using the Yamaha Sub-kick on his kick drum? That must have had the mothership bumpin for sure
It looks like that happy momma got front row for two nights! That is some love and dedication (with some phishy luck)
Any more pictures of the keytar? How incredible is that?! Cant wait for 6/19-21! I now feel silly for attending Coventry but hey, support is support and love is love!

I have said this before....BUT DAVE VANN IS THE MAN
Awesome articles and photos! Getting the mp3s straight from the source?! It's been a great weekend, and I wasnt even there!
I hope everything went smoothly for the heads who were fortunate enough to go!
Bonnaroo can't come soon enough!
HAaaaaaaa!!!! Yea, that does look like Mel from FOC. Rolling on the floor.

anybody need a knoxville ticket? face value. i'm willing to trade...
the new sub-kick is great..however i couldn't really notice it on the mp3's...i bet it scared some people..those lows can get pretty low when you're on a headfull of what-have-yous
Someone please tell me, why do people where sunglasses at indoor shows?
They're Back!
^if you have to ask you will never know...
umm so they can see at night? Isn't it obvious?
seriously that's a pretty obvious one. Yo Jeffofromknox how many tix you got and are you selling them?! I'll definitely pick them up if you have 2
trey likes that shirt
"she thinks I still care" doesn't sound like bluegrass to me, but who knows, I'm no bluegrass expert.
high when you wrote this maybe?
actually i'll buy that ticket if you still have it
buenobuddo@hush.com
dumb question alert - are tickets sold out for the summer tour already? can't find tickets for indiana june 19th.
LOL at the guy who noticed the girl who looks like MEL. lol. lol lol lol. and the guy next to her looks like every phan on the planet.
AND THEN THERE WAS LIGHT!!!!
Sunday show was on a whole new level. Very well written reviews.
My favorite audience moment on Sunday night happened when the giant balloons were falling from the ceiling. One of the balloons that was right above all the recording equipment and tapers started to fall, and you could see 20 tapers/soundmen just looking up with "oh shit" expressions on their faces at this giant balloon that was about to hit all their microphones. At which point, they all flew into the crowd behind them to reach up and tear the balloon to shreds. Nice team work guys! thanks for saving the recordings and thanks to the crew for the incredible sound!
From the Associated Press:
Police seize more than $1 million from Phish fans
HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- Some Phish fans are leaving Hampton a little lighter than when they arrived for the band's weekend reunion.
Police said Monday they confiscated about $1.2 million in illegal drugs and more than $68,000 in cash from concertgoers. Authorities also arrested 194 Phish fans during the three-night celebration of the band's return to the stage after a nearly five-year absence.
Most of the arrests were for drug possession, use and distribution, police said.
Tourism officials had estimated 75,000 fans would be coming to the coastal Virginia city. Nearly 200 law enforcement officers worked the weekend event, with the Vermont-based band picking up the tab.

From me: BOOOO
get hotels now for all hollow's eve 2009 in albany.
see y'all in pittburgh, knoxville and Bonnaroo w/ David Byrne (we can all have dreams, right?)
great work as always BB. cheers on the hard work, attention to details, thankless notetaking and sick 'get down on the scene' abilities.
Rager in Hampton!?! any extras for Asheville out there?
You gotta love the 5 foot blow up alien that made appearances during the Harry Hood Jam on Friday, and again on Sunday during 2001. Check out those videos on youtube for the alien sitings!
This weekend is a great sign. Another 3 months til the summer tour and they should be 10 times tighter. Looking forward to it. How come there are only 34 comments on this show? Random Phish articles over the last 3 years about nothing would get 300!
Page has a new shirt
Page is looking sharp in his new shirt.
Please play 2001 on June 7th!!!!!
great weekend for me and wasnt even there. energy was crazy all the way up in NY. quick downlaods made me feel like I was part of the circus as it was happening. cant wait for June
keenan41... Your comment as to less posts I think has to do with satisfaction and satiation. The mounds of posts to anything phish came out of ravenous desire for the music. So the beast is fed a bit and knows there is more food on the horizon. Those who were not at the show really were at the show in a way with technology and tuning in. For Phish fans I'm sure all is right in the world... I was at Saturday night and the energy was moving. I'm a music fan not so much a Phish fan and thought they played great and that from a perspective of only knowing a few melodies and a couple of songs. Major Skills and momentum from both crowd and band. I felt fortunate to the experience . Hampton Coll is an amazing venue; there is just something about the place
local morning talk show on 106.5 in Albany leaked a Phish stop in Albany yesterday morning. Thinking the Holloween rumor might have merit...
Someone might have already said so here, but just after one listen through each of the 3 nights...Page stole the show. Hands down, just about every special moment had his name on it. He pretty much was responsible for the gooyest of funk all weekend.
Absolutely unbelievable show from beginning to end!!! Although its hard to narrow down highlights as the whole show was so intense and amazing, 2001 and Moma Dance may have been the peak for me! They just sounded so tight and played such an insane setlist, it was really just a perfect evening! Can't wait for Knoxville!
I need to know about halloween in albany.....I NEED TO KNOW
the dude with the mo-hawk looks like he was just had by one of the undercovers
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2009/03/09/entertainment/e141925D83.DTL&tsp=1
wow this sucks. its like a feeding frenzy i bet. and the reason shakedown was non existent.
sanity never came my way...
Now if only they came back from their first hiatus playing like this.......
Umm, that Sanity was actually played for me. I lost my mind a couple of time Saturday night, Trey and Page saw/felt me do it too-huge eye contact with them both, my ear to ear grin said it all and was passed around by the 3 of us. Perfect double opener Sunday. That Velvet Sea pretty much closed the book on Coventry, Page just large and in charge all 3 nights. Frankly true democracy this weekend, 3.0 is all about doing the right things right, I see this lasting a long time unless the fans shady behavior kills it. Way to many arrests and the quantity of money/drugs siezed is an absolute embarassment. Will they play Hampton next as "Space Antelope" or "Fishman and Friends", I fear a ban coming from city hall (hey, at least no deaths reported!). Nonetheless, the hotels and cabbie's freaking loved us all-nothing but good vibes from the service industry. Man the Hampton economy needed this bad.
Oh man, I DID feel the feeling I forgot. I still can't see straight but going all 3 nights was well worth the trip to the mothership! What an incredible weekend. This summer tour is gonna be balls out rockin!! Hopefully I'll be at Great Woods. Already got my Bonnaroo tix...HARPUA opener???
This is the best article I have read about the shows yet, though I wish there was less focus on how "perfect" Trey played or did not play. Just being in that room surrounded by so much awe and wonder, who cares about a flubbed note here and there. I've never heard a perfect Phish performance whether it was 86, 96 or 2009. It's not like the studio where you can punch in and dub over your mistakes. Live, you get one shot, and they phrickin NAILED IT. THANK YOU PHISH for such an amazing weekend. (Went to all three, scored 3-day passes for face value on Ticketmaster).
Did anyone else see murph from sts9 sitting with a circle of people outside the show on Sunday night? They were passing around a ball and the person with the ball got to talk. Does anyone know what they were talking about, I just kinda saw it in passing....
MVPage.....couldnt agree more
twist>2001>momma NASTY... almost as nice as the twist>2001>tweezer from 1.0 last show but yes... theyre back! see all of you on summer tour! i have missed you all...
oh and mr. kuroda, props my man...
Kudos to the band and to the phans! Stellar weekend, good job getting covering the shows jambase! I agree that Page deserves the prize - KILLER.
As for the scene and cops shaking people down, tourfan - it's a gamble out there, and I felt like they compromised pretty well with us. Two hundred cops and 194 arrests=1 arrest per cop, and compared with scores of thousands of fans getting phreaky? Besides, these guys haven't toured in 4.5 years - if you've been stockpiling drugs to sell for that long, don't bring them ALL to the first three shows!?!?
Big props to the people of Hampton and the surrounding area for really treating us so well. I was just amazed by how nice everyone acted! Not only do we get to play and THROW DOWN hard at an amazing venue and pretty much self-govern (nobody clearing the aisles, plenty of time to hang out after the show), but we were greeted with smiles at bars and restaurants, and welcome signs at the Best Western hotel - even though I had to drive to Norfolk, we had a blast raging on the beach til sunrise. I've been hitting up shows since May 5, 1990 at Dominguez Hills, and phish in April of 1992 at LA Variety Arts - and this was an epic phamily reunion. . . thanks all!
Who is Phish and why do they keep Phollowing me??
so let me get this right TOURFAN phish is now paying the man to bust kids = weak!!!!!
oh and on another note I hear that everytime trey get's alone with someone wearing a dead shirt he beats them unmercilessly
COMEON GRUPP is this a contest????
You've been with the kids and the crooks
And they've all liked your looks
With great phreaks you have
Discussed great ESTHERS and DOGS STOLE THINGS
You've been to all of
PHISH'S best shows
You're very well Experienced
It's well known.
Total money put into the Hampton economy: $7 Million
Brian - Major thanks for the speedy reviews and turn around - I was up in NYC all weekend and appreciated the updates.
Cheers
Jake
totally unbelievable show. i cried 30 seconds into wilson, i wasn't the only one, right? page def owned hampton, but the boys sounded great too. 194 arrests? i barely noticed security, escept that the guard 10 feet to my right was wicked cool. oh, and on the way out 5 or 6 "policemen" and one second class petty officer from the coast guard were harrassing and baiting phans, oh and that poor cop struggling mightily to handcuff that bare assed cat in the bushes. seriously,d**k in the dirt, spread eagle naked: hilarious and disgusting all at once. great show, great time, great article.
I am surprized @ that # of arrests. Being there for the Sunday show, I was warned @ how "bad" the cops were. However I thought it to be VERY laxed. Walking around with open beers all over the place, and all through Shakedown. Passed cops with a joint burning in one hand and a beer in another. Looked @ me but said nothing. They seemed more interested in busting peps that wern't using the port o potties. I wonder if the majority of arrests came on days 1 & 2, they got their quota, and chilled out on Sunday? As for the show....COME ON! They are truely back. What a 1st set, 'eh? 16 songs....over 2 hours. Geezus! After that maze, I thought that was it. they were gonna end it there, but nooooo, like what, 6 more songs after that? Really f'n awesome show. I had no expections for what they provided me/us on Sunday. Thank you Phish! Welcome Back!
Anyone who is getting excited about this "reunion" should read these two articles. I can't believe the elitist shit that's coming out of Trey's mouth. These are tough to read, but its good to know the true nature of this comeback.....$$$$

this one too.

READ TREY'S QUOTES AT THE END. WTF??!!!!
Did you read the article?? In no place does it cite trey as the source for those quotes. Some internet slander, who would believe trey would dog his own phans like that, not this guy
Danalog....read the article!!!! Does it seem legitimate to you?? Seriously. Do you really think Trey would be quoted saying something like that? It made me laugh. Does any one recognize that there were something like 20,000 extra people in the lot.....that is why there were so many arrests. If you were there, and you had half of a brain, you could do what you want. The Norva, however, were a bunch of assholes.
The Norva security, that is.
LOLLLL at that article....def NOT true, all that is BS Trey def didnt say that and there were def no cops in riot gear.....such a load of crap haha.
Who needs cheese when we have phish
I wonder if DeVito was at Hampton...
There were not so many arrests comparatively speaking. The number was far greater in the 90's when they played Hampton prior. The whole issue of so-called bootlegged merchandise was a smoke and mirrors from the management and attorneys. I wrote jambase to see if they would attempt to speak to it. It is actually pretty shrewd . It gave the pretense that the band was going to be more about establishment by cutting the shakedown street but in fact it created safe passage to those who had tickets. To the heads who did not who were dealing they were fair game. I don't like to see anyone get busted but there were no issues inside the venue that I saw. However, Corin Capshaw owns the world of music and its his backyard or the Virginia. Phish is not really responsible for any of it. They have this management so they don't have to deal with anything but the music. The days of the moving city may be gone and that makes me sad because everyone who came could still be a part of the event but the bands reputation is important so that it can play and that is the most important thing PEACE
icant stop listining to sunday ,this tour is gonna be awsome
can you say overrated? i tried to get tickets to the Mass. show because my friends were going, obviously got shut out. I am actually happy I did. I will go to mountain jam for the same price and see about 30 bands....Thank you for saving me money fish....I'm over it
YAWN...BLAH BLAH BLAH...COPS....BLAH BLAH BLAH...PHISH IS BACK, WITH A VENGENCE! IT'S ABOUT THE MUSIC, NOT "THE SCENE". IDIOTS.
Yes, IN CAPS!
permit conditions often require the band to hire extra cops...get over it kids...if you can't keep your shit together then you should go to jail and learn a lesson before you kill yourself or someone else.
these shows sound soooooooo good. def goin to camden! free downloads are wassup! i listened to each show during work for 3 days straight and wow. what a day that was.
