Bill Kreutzman Trio :: 02.13.09 :: The Independent :: San Francisco, CA
By all reports, this relatively new trio led by Grateful Dead percussionist extraordinaire Bill Kreutzmann is on fire. Billy spars with bassist Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band) and guitarist-singer Scott Murawski (Max Creek, Mike Gordon), drawing from their varied backgrounds in a most compelling way. This performance featured an opening set from New Monsoon acoustic guitar/banjo whiz Bo Carper and a guest appearance from swamp doctor Papa Mali. JamBase was lucky enough to have lens lady Sue Weiand on the spot to capture some of the magic.
Some enterprising fan put together this clip of the trio playing "Eyes of the World" at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago on April 20, 2008. Grab your hula hoop and let's move!
JamBase | Three Deep Go See Live Music!
"God dammit Henry, gimme the tape!"
can't wait for these guys at Mountain Jam. Scott Murawski is one of the most underrated guitarists out there and he's been doin it for so long too. Everybody knows that Oteil can get down too. Check out the axe that Scotts playing and the bass that Oteil is playing- if you put em all together its like a Phish/Dead supergroup! Way to pick em Billy!
Im digging the languedoc
this looks awesome. need to see these guys. Oteil is one of the best bass players out there today.
sound like a great time. Go BO he s the man, Love oteil to, and everyone else. Never seen papa mali thohough.
it was ok .... pretty good at times
love hearing bill on drums .. like in listening to old dead tapes ...
they need a singer/lead vocal though....
Scotty was the man, this group kicks ass
I cought these guys at vibes and tho the were cut a bit short they blew us away with a solid set. Mountain Jam will be grate.
Damn Oteil's got some long-ass fingers. Check out that ring finger in his second pic, damn near a foot long. No wonder he rips...
the talent, the material = 2 thumbs up! the Fox was fun tonite
My main interest in this upcoming Dead tour is seeing Bill and Mickey play together again...
FINALLY- a band worth talking about. And he "owns" this Languedoc. Scott is thee most underrated guys on the circuit. PLUS he's been doing it a lot longer than most of us have been alive. Rawk on boyz!
Grateful Dead Shoreline tix go on sale in a half hour. I got my new mac, my high speed connection, my breakfast in me. I cant wait to get through 10 seconds after they go on sale and get my tix in section 202 row T, or five rows from the back. Fuck Live Nation, Fuck Ticketmaster.
Who made Languedoc famous...
i saw them last spring/summer and they were really good i have had a hard time getting my hands on any recordings of the trio if anyone knows where to find em that would be awesome...great pics as well
I saw this band and i by no means was blown away. I didn't see this one, but
Who made the Languedoc famous?............Languedoc,duh.
Trey, duh.
setlist please!!!
When you say finally a band worth talking about ,who are you talking about? Why so much hate toward Phish ,dollarman their just a band. Get over it, Phish is back and I cant wait to go, I ask that question just for you. Its Trey. I think its cool if you dont like phish but why the hate.
It looks like Scott Murawski is playing a Paul Languedoc guitar...aka the guy who makes Treys guitar. $10,000 a pop!
Haha Yeah I didn't read all the comments before mine...didn't see all the Languedoc discussion I missed.
> JamBase was lucky enough to have lens lady Sue Weiand on the spot to capture some of the magic.
Yeah you were... Great pix Sue!
i'd rather have an irwin, but a languedoc would suffice.
tee hee. trey needs to be credited anytime somebody plays a languedoc! trey's dope and so's languedoc, but come on now. do you think trey or the company really cares?
I just found out these guysa are going to be at Bella Madre Fest. Sweet!
Saw the shows in Denver and Boulder and they were both mind blowing.....Kreutzmann-Burbridge is one of the most psychedelic, intensely layered rhythm sections around.....and it's only 2 (of 3) people......Murawski ain't too shabby himself, but I wouldn't mind seeing them add a Keys player like Bill McKay or Rob Barraco.
Trey needs to be credited every time anyone plays the guitar he does? That's hilarious. Scott needs to credit no one. Guy is beyond a master...
And if you only knew the story behind it you would put your foot in your mouth...
