THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF A BONAFIDE GENIUS

Leonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen performed his first stateside show in 15 years at NYC's Beacon Theatre last night. This happy event is followed by the even happier announcement of a run of North American engagements including nights in New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles and a sunset performance at the Coachella. Tickets for some dates go on sale to the public beginning Friday, February 27, 2009 with additional on sale dates following on March 2 and March 9. For ticket sale information visit www.LeonardCohen.com.

The North American engagements will extend the phenomenal series of performances Mr. Cohen performed recently in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The performances have been overwhelmingly received abroad; with over 80 five star reviews. As the London Daily Telegraph plainly stated, it is "an extraordinary night of music."

As he has been throughout his most recent tour, Mr. Cohen will be joined by Sharon Robinson and the Webb Sisters, who have wowed crowds around the world with their rich, complementary background vocals. Also joining Mr. Cohen onstage are Roscoe Beck (bass, vocals), Neil Larsen (keyboards & Hammond B3 accordion), Bob Metzger (electric, acoustic & pedal steel guitar), Javier Mas (bandurria, laud, archilaud, 12 string acoustic guitar), Rafael Gayol (drums, percussion) and Dino Soldo (sax, clarinet dobro, keys).

On March 31, 2009, Columbia Records will release Leonard Cohen's Live In London, a document of Cohen's historic July 17, 2008 concert at London's O2 Arena.

Additionally NPR will broadcast select songs from Leonard Cohen's Beacon Theatre performance at www.npr.org on Wednesday, February 25.

it makes me want to vomit when people compare any band including (blink 182) with the disco bisquicks. i mean seriously a jamband compared to a real musician. no offense to the the actual members of disco biscuits but your fans are probably the dumbest people ive seen. (18 yr old tie die wearing, pot smoking, nostalgic about the 60s, anti everything people who drive dads mercedes to festivals to listen to crunchy tunes)

I don't know what to say. I bow at the alter of Cohen, and I love the Disco Biscuits. I may be forced to kick my own ass if I see myself in the Cohen lot. Grand Prairie's between Arlington and Dallas.

I've been waiting for this, for a long time. I love Leonard Cohen. His songs are pure poetry. "Songs Of Leonard Cohen' and "Songs From a Room" are masterpieces, not to mention his later work. "The Future" is a prophetic album and song. I'm so glad he's coming to Minneapolis. Field Commander Cohen is welcome here any time.

bubba? what are you doing on a Cohen thread? while I appreciate your effort to take some of the pressure off me, I think Leonard might hurt your fragile brain.

Cohen is a talented man, but he needs to lighten up! He has become one of the rich and powerful men that he constantly bitches about.

I never really looked at it as bitching, but I suppose there is an element of that to it.

I don't know why the fuck you idiots think I'm comparing Leonard Cohen to the Disco Biscuits. I was mearly raising a question as to why there was not a comment board on the lastest bisco story. And for the record: Bisco SUCKS!

I just think its funny that Jambase posted the NPR link as NRP.org and it will take you to a neighborhood association website for Minneapolis. Way to be on point.

Flame war on not (in reference to the lousy Disco Biscuits {article}), that is censorship in my book. That really doesn't matter though, 'cause Mr. Cohen is doing a North American tour! People, I cannot stress enough how amazing this man's words and music are. If you are in the area, and are not working that night, go see him! You will not be let down. His album "The Future" is by far my favorite of his, so if you are not accustomed to his work, start with that. Any fan of the movie Natural Born Killers will recognize a song or three from it.

It's not censorship, you can post your same opinion elsewhere. They just removed access for you to publish through them. If it's that big of a deal go make shadybiscotree.blogspot.com
