THIRD ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WITH GODDESSES OF HARMONY
*bernadette* |
For one night only, Thursday, March 5, at the The Great American Music Hall, the Bay Area women's collective, WomenROCK, will celebrate three years of organizing, fundraising, collaborating and supporting one another as female artists with four powerful, amazing, star-studded, up-and-coming, female-fronted acts. The Goddesses of Harmony features Kim Manning of P-Funk, Pamela Parker, Valerie Orth and *bernadette*.
"This will be an epic celebration of successful, powerful, female artists working together to rise up in song to build community, empower and inspire," says *bernadette* (who organized the event). There will be very special guest sit-ins by nationally acclaimed musician friends and allies of these rockin' females: Gabby La La of Les Claypool's Band, James Nash of The Waybacks, John Krimstock (Lauren Hill), Jay Bowman, Dave Brogan of ALO, Veronica Klaus, Sam Flot, Lance Lazwell and many more.
WomenROCK is supported by the NOW Organization, who will be present the evening of the event. NOW is the largest, most comprehensive feminist advocacy group in the United States, whose purpose is to take action to bring women into full participation in society — sharing equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities with men, while living free from discrimination. NOW is one of the few multi-issue progressive organizations in the United States. NOW stands against all oppression, recognizing that racism, sexism and homophobia are interrelated, and that other forms of oppression such as classicism and ableism work together with these three to keep power and privilege concentrated in the hands of a few.
WomenROCK has raised funds for the following Bay Area Groups:
IMPACT Bay Area
Breast Cancer Action
Blue Bear School of Music
SF Women's Clinic
Missing Persons
