BALKAN BEAT BOX GIVES NEW SPIN TO THEIR SOUND

Balkan Beat Box
Balkan Beat Box's first remix album, Nu Made, will be released nationwide by JDub Records on CD and vinyl on April 7, 2009.

Nu Made includes a previously unreleased track "Ramallah Tel Aviv", an original composition with lyrics promoting tolerance and peace through the exchange of culture. It features BBB vocalist Tomer Yosef alongside Arab MC Saz. The song embodies the spirit of the BBB live show, capturing the very moment political and ideological boundaries are broken and fans are brought together from NYC to Tokyo, Istanbul to Paris, and LA to Tel Aviv.

BBB percussionist and co-bandleader Tamir Muskat says "I define myself as a citizen of the world." As a whole, Balkan Beat Box "wants to tell musicians that they shouldn't feel any shame in their roots and influences." Balkan Beat Box has curated this exciting record along those lines, re-imagining their last two releases and updating them to match the ecstatic sound of the pursuit of peace around the world.

Balkan Beat Box shakes up their mix of Gypsy, Jewish, Arabic, and Mediterranean rhythms with a remix album for the dance-floor. Nu Made includes remixes of BBB favorites like "Hermetico", "Habibi Min Zaman" and "Digital Monkey." The album features remixes by Turntables on the Hudson founder Nickodemus, Dub Gabriel, JDub label-mates Soulico, the iMeem/Ableton Live BBB remix contest winners, and Balkan Beat Box themselves. Also in the CD is a link to download parts for fans to make their own Bulgarian Chicks remix.

Starting March 1, JewishTVNetwork.com will stream, in its entirety, Balkan Beat Box's September 2008 concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. JTN's is best known for their recent PBS series "The Jewish Americans" and the BBB concert is the first such endeavor for their broadband network. The footage features a live remix of BBB's "Bulgarian Chicks."

To coincide with Nu Made's release, JDub will be issuing Balkan Beat Box's self-titled first album and Nu Made on vinyl. Balkan Beat Box will be playing a small number of US shows to celebrate Nu Made's release.
