I definately liked U2's earlier, politically charged stuff...War, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, real good stuff. But I watched the video linked to above and I closed the window in 15 seconds... tis Garbage... just like everything after Zooropa. There's definitely a difference in musical outlooks between Grateful Dead and Phish fans. Dead fans have always been open to OTHER kinds of bands and music. You could hear reggae, jazz, just about anything in GD lots. Phish fans (and not all of them, I am one) are for the most part bitchy little punks that criticize EVERYTHING except their band. Like Phish is the first and only good band ever. Get a grip you whiny little bitches. And while you're at it get a job and move out of Mommy or Daddy's house. There is more to the musical universe than PhishPhishPhish. U2 have some great songs whether you like it or not. Bono might be somewhat of a pretentious tool but it doesn't mean everything they've ever done sucks. No more than Trey's indecisiveness or Mike's odd behaviour. Maybe this is why Phish has only held their own festivals in the past-too many of their fans are close-minded pricks to like anything else.

On another note, Juaquin Phoenix was funny on Letterman. Definitely stoned off his ass. He did a great job on Walk The Line so if the hip-hop thing tanks he could probably at least do some great Johnny Cash covers.

Fella's, please chill a little. U2 is good, Phish is good too. I have seen them both multiple times from the 1987 Joshua Tree tour to 90's Phish and Big Cypress. Some shows, U2 was on fire and they are just as talented as Phish. Other shows, Phish played with such creativity they could not be matched. Other times, Phish sucked or U2 played a corny tune. It's really not about whose favorite band is better, that's kiddie korner stuff. They are BOTH excellent bands that put on good shows.

Relax People. this on going argument of whos better is pointless. music isnt a competition. its expression. ive been a phish fan for a long time and a u2 fan for along time. ive seen phish 10 times and ive seen u2 a couple of times live. and phish put on a couple of great shows and a couple of crap shows where they jsut sound like ear poop. U2 is great live band. they put on an amazing show. their music might not be as technical as phish or other bands but their lyrics have more emotion and make far sense than most of the phish material. so basically what im trying to say here is these stupiud arguments about whos better are pointless.
